Reagan POV
"Keep up!"
Harry was pouting because I was so obviously faster than him. When he offered to go running with me this morning, I expected him to be in shape. Obviously that wasn't the case. Either that or I was just so much better than him. Either answer was plausible. Harry and I had been brother and sister-in-law for 3 years, and we rarely spent time together with just us. So, that was changing today. If he had to pass out because of it, well then so be it.
"Would you slow down?!", he yelled after me, "It's not a race!"
"Not one you would win for that matter. Come on! Let's race to Starbucks. Loser buys the coffee."
He pouted once again, and I rolled my eyes. He's such a child.
"Okay", he agreed, "just give me a second to tie my shoe."
I nodded as he knelt down on the sidewalk. As I paused to catch my breath and wait on him, I saw him take off. The little bastard.
"You cheated!"
"Sucks to suck, Reagan! See you at Starbucks!"
Because he stupidly ran into oncoming traffic, he stopped about 3 cars in the process of him running as I watched his beanie-covered head bob up and down. As they honked and yelled some not-so-nice words at him, he kept running. Oh sure. He can run through oncoming traffic, but he can't beat a 125 pound girl? 130...140. Either way, he can only beat me if he's cheating. So, who's the real winner here?
Even though I got to Starbucks 7 seconds after he did, he did still beat me. But, he also looked like he couldn't breathe as he was keeled over to catch his breath. He may have beaten me, but it looks like he was dying trying to do so. So, I was satisfied. I had suggested coffee because Louis had kept me up with his nightmare yelling last night. For the past 2 weeks, they had no effect on me because I had tuned him out, only focusing on my mum. And, since I didn't care about his whereabouts 2 weeks ago, I had no idea if he had slept-walked to that girl's house again. Fingers crossed that he didn't.
"So, what's up?", I asked Harry as he sat down with his coffee.
"I just needed a reason to get out of the house", he responded.
"How is she?"
He knew who I was referring to. I hadn't spoken to my sister in 2 weeks.
"She's..getting better. She hasn't cried herself to sleep for the past 3 days. But, she also won't let me sleep in the same bed as her."
"Why not?"
He took a sip of his coffee, and I could tell that these past 2 weeks had affected him too. Trinity must really be in bad shape.
"I don't know. She refuses to speak to me only when necessary."
"I think I know how she feels", I told him, "I did the same thing to Louis."
"I've heard", he smiled, "He told me about the hell that you put him through last week."
"I'm sure he did. Do you want me to talk to her?"
"Please do! She comes home, makes dinner, talks to Julian, then sleeps in the guest room. She speaks when she's spoken to, but mentally, she's not there. I'm running out of options here."
I didn't really have room to give advice. I had only just stopped crying myself to sleep yesterday, and Louis still pisses me off without trying. But, at least the kids are speaking to me again, and Bentley no longer barks every time I enter a room. Baby steps, I guess.
