Reagan POV

“This number has been disconnected and is no longer in service. Please hang up and try again later.”

I expected that. I expected him to cut off all contact with me as soon as possible because it was necessary. What I didn’t expect was for him to just disappear altogether. His company hadn’t seen him since the day of Emma’s funeral, and there hasn’t been one single paparazzi sighting.

With everything that had been going on, I should think that Andrew had gotten to him and killed him. But, for some reason, I expected to have some kind of gut feeling if he died or something. So, as far as I was concerned, Josh was still alive. I didn’t care that we weren’t friends anymore because that was what was best, but I needed to know that he was alive. As long as he was okay, Emma’s death hadn’t been in vain.

The boys still weren’t talking to Louis for reasons I no longer cared about. I kept reassuring them that this wasn’t their fight, but they were stubborn. Niall had come over yesterday to apologize, to my surprise. I expected Liam to be the one to give in first, but apparently, he was the most pissed off. Whatever. They would come around sooner or later.

Louis and I had been…fine over these past few days. We were basically roommates. We were nice in front of the children, who were elated that both of their parents were back together under the same room. We spoke when necessary, but it was still awkward. Because Louis and I gone straight from best friends to dating, we never really had any down time. It had been 4 years since we had to live under the same roof and sex wasn’t an issue. It was going to take some getting used to it, but I was fine with it. I can’t say the same for him.

“Hey there”, I said as he walked in and threw his keys on the couch, “How was work?”

“Fine.”

That’s the most I had been getting. Louis had been one-wording me quite often now, and I was getting annoyed. For the most part, I had been biting my tongue, but that was only going to last for so long.

“Where are the twins?” I asked him.

“Kadin wanted a play-date so she asked me to let them stay over there tonight. I dropped them off 10 minutes ago.”

That’s the longest sentence I’ve gotten in the past few days.

“That’s fine. So, do you want to do something tonight? Maybe go out and have a drink or something? Catch up?”

“I can’t”, he shook his head and walked into the kitchen, “Ka-, my boss gave me some work to do tonight, so I’m going to be up really late. You’re welcome to go if you want to.”

I rolled my eyes at his attempt to hide Kai’s name. I didn’t have a reason to be mad at her. She wasn’t my husband. I was trying to be cordial to Louis because I know that we had been through a lot, but he was making it difficult. We hadn’t spent one night together at all. If we were going to at least be friends, he had to do more than he was doing.

“Fine”, I stood up and walked towards the stairs, “I will go out and have a drink. I need to do something besides stay in this house.”

I didn’t even drink, and Louis knew that. But, he kept his mouth shut as I walked upstairs to change. Bentley was hot on my heels as I walked to the guest room that had now become my room. It’s like Louis was purposely having no contact with me whether that be physical or verbal. I didn’t understand why because he had been the one that wouldn’t stop calling me last week to come back home. Now that I am actually back, albeit it’s not in the way that he would like, he just ignores me. Well, I’m not going to let that break me. I’m going to have fun tonight.
