Reagan POV

“Ma’am, if you’ll just follow me, he should be a little bit down this hall.”

Saying that I was a sight to see would be an understatement. Since the ambulance had left with Danny’s cold body, I hadn’t changed. I couldn’t bring myself to change out of the very bloody clothes that I was wearing. One of the guards gave me a jacket to cover up with, and even though I was wearing it, I didn’t really care how I looked. Hopefully my lackluster appearance would show people just how numb I was inside.

The ambulance that Taylor had called tried their best to revive Danny, but any one with eyes could tell that he was long gone. No one could survive from the amount of blood he lost. Taylor offered to drive me home after the paramedics finally left, but I told her that was I was fine. That may not be true, but I didn’t want anyone hanging around just to make sure that I wasn’t going to break down crying. I probably would, but hopefully I would be in the comfort of my own shower before doing so.

As much as I wanted to leave with her, I stood my ground. I came here for a reason, and I was absolutely positive that if I didn’t see and talk to Josh today, I wasn’t going to be able to get up the courage to do it later. So, I left the guard lead me to where Josh was being held. Visiting hours were currently over, but since I had just had someone literally die on me, they made an exception.

“Here he is, Mrs. Tomlinson”, the guard said, pointing to a chair, “You have 15 minutes, unfortunately so I’d make it quick.”

After I nodded towards him, he pressed some button behind me, reminded me of my time limit and walked away. And about 30 seconds later, Josh walked through some double doors.

I expected my heart to leap out of my chest, do a somersault, something when I saw him. But, considering what had just happened 47 minutes ago, there was nothing.

“Hi, Doll.”

“Hi, Josh.”

“I’m glad you finally-. Holy-. What happened?! Why are you covered in blood?!”

He franctically stood up and pointed to the guard behind him that was monitoring our conversation. The guard was very obviously uninterested.

“It’s not mine”, I said softly, “It’s Danny’s.”

“Dan-. Danny the gang member? What happened?!”, he asked, sitting back down.

“Your father.”

Josh’s eyes got wide before his fists clenched next to the mirror. I’m not sure how long his hold on his temper would last.

“What do you mean?”

“You remember when Danny saw us 2 weeks ago and told us that he was going to stand up to your father? Long story short, he did.”

“And my father killed him for it.”

“You say that as if it isn’t a surprise”, I said, eyebrows raised.

“Andrew isn’t someone that negotiates. It’s either his way or death. Danny knew that. We both did. We know how my father operates, and he doesn’t take no for an answer.”

“So, if you knew that, why did you let him leave that day? Why couldn’t we have protected him? How many lies are you going to tell me?!”

“I have a feeling we’re not talking about Danny anymore.”

Ignoring that, I stood up and ignored the guard’s look of surprise that he was giving me. I was pissed.

“You lied about not knowing where Louis was! You lied about letting Danny basically walk to his death! What else don’t I know about, Josh?!”
