Reagan POV
“Imani, stop kicking Niall before I ask you to leave.”
The fiery brunette rolled her eyes but did reluctantly retract her foot from Niall’s jaw. I knew that Imani’s way of showing how much she loved Niall was to abuse him (as deluded as that was), but the twins got a real kick out of it, and I couldn’t have them thinking that was okay. Surprisingly, Niall didn’t seem to mind.
He dodged her hits and said every curse word imaginable, but he seemed liked he enjoyed it. I guess this was their banter. They seemed happy, and that was all that mattered. I tried not to chastise Imani too much because this was the first time that she had allowed us to see her without her prosthetic. Niall said that she was finally coping, and he didn’t want to stop that. I didn’t blame him; it was nice to see her smiling again. Or at least what she called a smile.
“Harry, make yourself useful and go get me beer out of the fridge.”
Harry rolled his eyes and focused his gaze back on his wife, who had fallen asleep about 10 minutes ago in his lap.
“Is there a reason why you can’t go get it?” he asked Imani.
“I’m a cripple. Are you really going to make the one-legged girl go get her own beer?”
“Oh, piss off. You’re not a cripple, and you have a wheelchair.”
“If Trinity asked you to get up and go get her a beer, what would you say?” she said as Niall pulled her sock off and proceeded to massage her only foot.
“I would say no. She’s pregnant.”
“She must need some kind of alcohol to get through a marriage with you.”
I listen to Imani and Harry bicker while Niall watched in amusement as I walked back into the kitchen. Kadin walked out of the twins’ playroom with Bentley in her arms and sat across from Harry and Trinity. She hadn’t said much since she got here, and I had a feeling that Liam had something to do with that. When we invited everyone over for Game Night, he had thoroughly declined. Although he wouldn’t give us a straight answer as to why he wouldn’t come, he made it clear that he would not be here.
Still, Kadin had decided to come and bring Aiden and Ariel with her when she came by herself. Harry and Trinity had brought Julian after they announced to everyone that they were having a baby girl. Even though Trinity still looked hesitant about the whole ‘having a baby’ situation, I could tell that she was excited, and I could only pray that this one actually lived.
“Babe, tell your friend to stop drinking all of the beer.”
Josh came up behind me and rested his hand on the small of my back as he reached over my head to get a bag of pretzels.
“I heard that, New Guy. You don’t drink anyway, so why do you care?”
Instead of answering, Josh fought a smile and turned back to me. I knew what he was getting ready to bring up.
“The station finally got back to me.”
“And?” I asked him.
“They said they think they may have found something. They want us to come down there tomorrow.”
“Did he sound promising?”
“Somewhat. I know what you’re thinking, Doll. I don’t think my father has him.”
“There’s no possibility?” I asked as he wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me towards him.
“No, there is. It just doesn’t sound like something my father would do. But, I’m not completely ruling him out.”
