    The sun was was beating brightly over head. Sweat was running down your face and your muscles ached.
     For the past two days you had been training nonstop in preparation for the trials and it was starting to take a toll on your body. Luckily you were training alongside Wendy so she could patch you up when you were done.

Wendy: I've been meaning to ask, what are you training so hard for? I've seen Natsu and some of the others do the same thing and I've been left in the dark over here.

You: No ones told you? The S-Class trials are being announced today. I'm not going to act like I know a lot about them because to be honest I wasn't told about them up until a few days ago.

Wendy: What's the S-Class trials?

You: I'm not gonna sit here and explain it. You can have Mira tell you about it or wait a few hours for the actual announcement. But in the meantime, let's get back to the guild. I'm dying of heat and theres not much else I can improve.

    You and Wendy headed back to the guild and waited. You talked with Guildarts and had a few drinks with him to pass the time.
      Eventually the hall was starting to get crowded with your fellow guild mates. A mix of whispers and laughter filled the air until everyone went quiet as Makarov walked on to the stage and silenced the crowd. Mirajane, Erza, and Guildarts were all standing next to the short old man as he spoke.
     Everyone was looking at Makarov and stared with intense eyes. You one the other hand were calm for you already knew that you had been picked to compete.
    While the master was explaining what the trials were all about, you stole a glance over to Erza. She noticed you looking at her and she passed you a small smile while she nodded her head at you. Then she looked back at the master.
    Names were being called one after another.

Makarov: This year's participants will be Natsu, Grey, Juvia, Elfman, Cana, Freed, Levy, Mest, and (R/N). All of you will be granted the opportunity to move up to S-Class through this competition. You can bring one partner with you if you please but you cannot ask any other S-Class wizard. Further information will be given to all of you once we reach Tenrou island. You will have the rest of today to prepare for the trip. That is all.

You: A partner huh? Now who would I bring to help?

   The crowd was clearing out of the hall. Some people looked relieved while others were obviously disappointed that they weren't chosen.
    You took a seat at the bar and contemplated who you would want at your side during the trials. You couldn't pick Erza because she was S-Class and you couldn't ask Natsu because he was taking part in the competition.

You: *under your breath* Crap, I might be going in alone. Oh wait, I could ask Wendy or Gajeel.

  You get up from your seat and start looking for the two dragonslayers.
    You manage to find Gajeel and ask if he would like to be your partner. But as you asked, he pointed to Levy and says that he already promised that he'd be her partner.

You: Well I guess Gajeel is out. I guess I should find Wendy.

   No matter how hard you looked, you couldn't find her anywhere. No one had seen her or Carla after the announcement, so you gave up.
    After awhile of wandering the guild, you decided it was time to go home and pack what little you needed to bring.
     Erza walked out with you, keeping you company on your way home.

Erza: So, who are bringing with you?

You: So far, no one. I think I'm going into this alone. I dont mind it but I hope I'm not at too bad of a disadvantage you know?

Erza: I bet you'll do just fine. If anything, that fight you had against Guildarts all those months ago might be an indicator that your strength will be more than sufficient to win.

You: Really? Didnt know you had that much faith in me.

Erza: More than you think.

   You reached Fairy Hills and broke off from Erza.
    You entered your apartment, layed down in bed and decided that you wouldn't need to bring anything with you after spending a few minutes thinking about it.
      Looking out the window by your bed, you saw the lights in the guild start to go out one by one as night had officially come.

You: Guess I otta get some sleep. Who knows what's coming my way.

    Your eyes had welded themselves shut as drowsiness started to overwhelm you. Your body relaxed.
  An itch on your nose was begging you to scratch it. But your arm wouldn't move. No matter how hard you tried to move, it would never budge. Your eyelids felt like they were taped shut. The only thing you could control was your breathing.
    That's when you heard it, the voice. It was back. Last time you had heard it was when you first joined the guild.

???: A king's son sleeping in a small twin sized bed working for a dirty band of misfits. *Cackles* Oh how far you've fallen boy. I bet the next time he sees you he's gonna lose it. None will be safe from his wrath.

   The voice had gotten closer to your ear.

???: Sleep well. You're gonna need all the energy you can get.

   The voice left as quick as it came.
  Light was shining through your window. The brightness woke you up.

You: Did I fall asleep? If so, when? The voice went away and I woke up to sunlight. Was it a dream?

   Thoughts filled your head for the past few minutes before you relized that the ship for Tenrou island would be leaving in 30 minutes.
    You rushed to get dressed and made your way to the port as quick as you could.
     Everyone who was going to participate was already on the ship.

Makarov: (R/N), you're late. Get on so we can set off. Standing in this heat is bringing me closer to my grave.

  You hop on.

~~~~~~~~~~~Timeskip~~~~~~~~
    You could see it in the distance. A huge island with a massive tree sticking out of it.
    The boat was rocking back and forth. In any other case, you would be throwing up your guts but Wendy nullified your motion sickness with her magic.
     Makarov stood above everyone and explained how the trials worked. Meanwhile, your heart was beating out of your chest. You hadn't been this excited for anything in a very long time. You didnt really care about becoming S-Class, but instead you wanted to test your mettle against your guild mates. This was a chance to prove that you could stand up to the best.
Makarov: As long as everyone stays within the guidelines and rules of the trials, everything goes. Once I give the signal, you will set off, and the trials will officially begin.
    The old man watched as all of us got into our separate positions, ready to sprint off the boat and into the water.
    He raises a finger into the air and a light shoots up into the sky, indicating that the trials had begun.
    You were one of the first off the ship as you had been very close to the outside of it. The others were still on, blocked by a barrier obviously quickly placed by Freed as he got off. But you were just faster.
    Reaching shore, you were confronted by multiple openings numbered 1-8.
You: Uh, well... when all else fails, go with the median.
   You pass through the opening numbered 4 and a magic barrier appears behind you, insuring that no one would walk in behind you.
   The path you had chosen was straight forward. It didnt turn or twist anywhere. The walls were made of stone and the floor was flooded, soaking your boots.
     The air shifted. A silhouette was in front of you, shrouded in darkness.
You: So... this means I've ran into one of the three S-Class wizards. This should be interesting.
   As you got closer, you could start to make out more and more detail about the person in front of you.
Opponent: Halt! This is as far as you come.
   The voice was unmistakable. You had heard that lady luck was a cruel mistress, but pinning you up against Erza? That was a cold move...
