Chapter 10: A Change

I think this is my favorite chapter so far. I hope you have as much fun reading it as I did writing it.

You: Helping a member of Grimoire Heart. Am I crazy? Right now my friends are fighting tooth and nail against these guys while I'm taking a Sunday stroll with one of them. I don't even know what they want with Zeref. Whatever it is, it cant be good.

    Ultear stops in her tracks and turns to you.

Ultear: The Black Wizard Zeref possesses very dangerous magic. He can kill whatever he comes across at will.

     Ultear points at a tree next to the path you were following. It was dead. Just like the trees surrounding that odd man.

You: The tree, that man did this... is that man Zeref? I think I know where he is.

Ultear: You do? Excellent. That will make this go so much faster. Lead the way.

    You start walking the same way you went when you ran into the man. Coming across the same small cliff where you first found him.

You: This is where I saw him last. Kneeling over that deer down there. He ran before I could get anything out of him.

Ultear: Then we will follow him. You're a dragonslayer. Sniff him out.

You: I'm not a dog you know!

Ultear: You'll be whatever I tell you to be. We have a deal remember?

   You squint your eyes at her and murmer under your breath.
  
   Taking a large sniff of the air, you could pinpoint where the smell of death was originating from.
  
   You slide down the cliff and Ultear follows.
   
    He didnt run far from where you last saw him. A few twists and turns and there he was. He was resting by a waterfall, drinking from the river that formed under it.

Ultear: There he is! Meredy, salvation is at hand. Soon our suffering will be over.

    Ultear holds her hands out, palms up, and a spiral of sparkling magic fills her hands. Before you knew it, a small book fell into her hands.

Ultear: One part of the deal. Take it. This book contains what you want to know. But be careful, this information can make even the most strongly willed man lose his mind.

   You take the book from her hands. The moment you do, she turns twords Zeref and makes her approach.
  
    You shove the book in a large pocket on your belt and make sure its secure.

You: I want to leave. But at the same time I want to see what her intentions with this man is.

   A loud crash grabs your attention. By the waterfall, Ultear is visibly shaken. Zeref had an arm extended outwards as if he had just attacked her.

You: This should be interesting.

   You hide behind a tree to get a good view of what's happening.

Ultear: No. If I'm hit by even one of those things-

   A black cluster of magic forms in Zerefs hand. Black lightning shooting off of it. He throws it in Ultears direction. She manages to swiftly dodge to the left.

The cluster ate through everything it passed through. The rock wall behind Ultear now had a gaping hole in it.

You: She wasn't kidding. He is dangerous.

   Ultear goes to stand up, but is stopped halfway through getting up by a huge rock that crumbles onto her back. Pinning her under.

Zeref: I warned you. You needed to leave but you didnt listen.
