Chapter 28: Journey

The sky started to dim. A snow storm was on it's way and clouds were covering the sky.

Erza, Natsu, Happy, Wendy, Carla, Gajeel, Pantherlilly, and Irene were all at the beach waiting for you.

Irene was in her dragon state.

You: Alright, I'm here. Is everyone ready to go?

Irene: Yes we are. We need to leave immediately.

She drops a wing on the sand, tilting it to where it was flat on the ground.

Irene: Get on to my back. It's the fastest way there.

One by one your friends get on Irene.

Pantherlilly: This will be my first time riding a dragon... I guess there really is a first time for everything.

You: I wouldn't say it's the weirdest thing I've done but it's up there.

Carla: Same here.

Everyone grabs onto the hair running down Irene's back to keep themselves on.

Erza stood behind you, Wendy was in front.

Irene takes a running start and before you know it you're soaring across the ocean.

Carla: Where are we going exactly?

Irene: A place Lugos calls 'The Pit'. I only know the location of it. So don't ask me what to expect when we get there.

Carla scoffs.

Carla: Could he have picked a more vague name?

Carla and Irene continue to talk, you tune them out and look down at the ocean below. Wendy comes up next to you and watches.

You: When you joined the guild, did you ever think that you would be riding on a dragon to stop the end of the world?

Wendy: Not in my wildest dreams.

You: Me neither.

Wendy shifts to face you.

Wendy: Are you scared?

You: Scared of what?

Wendy: Everything. When ever something like this happens you always look so calm. I've always wondered if you get scared.

You: Trust me Wendy, I get as scared as you do. I'm just good at hiding my emotions on the outside. Inside I'm practically having a melt down.

Wendy: Do you think we can stop what's coming?

You: I have no idea kid.

You rest your hand on her shoulder.

You: But I've got faith that we can pull through.

Wendy gives you a smile and looks back at the ocean. You do the same.

The water speeding by was calming. It was like looking at thousands of glistening mirrors reflecting your image.

You: What does all of this have to do with me? My power is nowhere near what Acnologia said I was capable of. I can't even turn into a full on dragon.

You look at the blue tattoos on your arms.

You: Crazy to think that I started out believing that these were my biggest problem, now I'm off to prevent the world from ending... fate is a bitch.
