Chapter 42: Hearts of Iron

The sun was rising over the horizon. A full night had passed from the moment we set out, to now. I was exhausted, it felt like we were down there for days.

(R/N) lightly shakes in my harms. I could tell he was in a lot pain, the cold air didn't help.

In the distance, I could see it, Magnolia. The guildhall's large castle like appearance comforts me.

Erza: Home... finally.

The dragons fly low to the sea and land in a near by patch of trees.

Irene: We should be safe to transform here. Everyone get off!

Our friends hop down from the dragons. Ultear was the last to dismount Acnologia. She collapses to her knees and breathes heavily.

Ultear: (under her breath) We did it Lugos... we stopped the Allmother...

A smile takes her faces.

Gajeel: We need to take our wounded to the guild.

Andromeda puts (R/N) and I down.

Erza: Some one will have to carry him. I don't think I'll be able to.

A tan arm reaches beside me and lifts (R/N) up. Blue tattoos cover his arms and face. His long hair reached down to his hips.

Acnologia: Good job kid... you have my respect.

I sit in awe as he follows the gang twords the guild.

I was still on my knees when two ladies walk to me. One of them was my mother.

Irene: Don't worry about him. I'm sure he'll okay.

The woman to the left of Irene was unfamiliar to me. Her grey hair and lightly wrinkled face revealed her age. She put her hands together, then bows to me.

???: Thank you. I Andromeda.

This woman was (R/N)'s mother. I could see some resemblance to him in her eyes.

Irene lends me a hand, I take it and stand up.

Irene: Let's follow them. I'm sure everyone is eager to see you back.

We walk through the doors of the guild. People stand up and crowd around us, asking questions about where we were and what what happened.

Acnologia had a hard time getting to the infirmary.

Acnologia: Move out of my way before I blow you all to ash!

Our guild mates made a path for us out of fear for the strange man.

I speak up to reassure everyone.

Erza: All will be explained in a little while. In the mean time, I need someone to fetch Porlyusica. Tell her that we have wounded.

Laxus: I'll go get her!

Laxus sprints out the door and into the cold morning air.

I struggle to keep standing. My legs start to buckle underneath me.

Irene: Here, I'll help you to the infirmary.

She wraps her arms around me, allowing me to use her as a crutch.

I'm sat on a bed. My mother tends to my wounds.

(R/N) is layed in the bed next to me, he was in worse shape than I thought. The sheets were turning red from his blood.
