Chapter 30: The Forgotten City

Happy: Ulrear?! How come you're here?

Ultear: Long story short, I work with Lugos. He did me a favor and I've been in his debt ever since. I have been following (R/N) every step of the way.

Happy: Where did you go after the games?

Ultear: I had... personal issues.

She crosses her arms and looks distantly to the side.

You: Do you want your old cloak back? I've got it on me.

You start to unwrap the black cloak on your waist but you're stopped by Ultear.

Ultear: Keep it. It looks good on you.

You: Um, if you say so.

Happy stands up on your shoulder and looks down at the dead city below.

Happy: Where do we go?

You: Twords the big red ball in the sky I think. If the others are here then that's where they'll be going.

Ultear: That would be my guess.

Looking down the slanted cliff side, you see jagged rocks protruding from the dirt.

You: Don't think sliding down is an option. We might have to jump.

Ultear: Or I could just do this. Ark of time!

A bright light blinds you.

You: THIS AGAIIIIINNN-

Your body is jolted out of place as the light consumes you.

Colors dance around as your body shifts and moves at extream spreads.

Suddenly, the movement comes to a grinding halt. The light fades and you collapse to the ground.

You: Don't do that without warning us first!

Happy: I think I'm gonna hurl.

He covers his mouth with his paws to keep from puking.

Ultear: Get over it. We're at the bottom.

You stand up off the ground.

You look around the desolate landscape that surrounded you. Everything had a shade of grayness to it. Dead trees, barren ground and still air.

You: How long has this place gone untouched?

Ultear: Thousands of years. The first living creatures of Earth built these structures after the first awakening... or so that's what Lugos told me.

Happy: How deep down are we?

Ultear: Far below the ocean I believe.

You move towords the city. The red sphere in the sky entranced you.

Ultear: It's strange. I can't feel the presence of any other person down here.

You: We should have been able to at least get a hint of Acnologia or Irene's power by now. I could sense them across the sea before.

Happy: Hey look. We're getting closer to one of those towers. Should we check it out?

A giant stone tower stood tall in front of your path way. It was decrepit and looked like a solid punch would knock it over.

You: Probably not a good idea. We can explore when we regroup with everyone.

Ultear: I'm with (R/N). The sooner we find your friends, the sooner we can get out of here.
