The team walked into Jake's room, the small fights and anger behind them now,
as the Doctor's haunting words prepared them for the worse, Doctors usually apologize
when they lose a patient right?
"Jake!" Logan gasped looking at his younger brother just lying there,
his hand was wrapped up, as was his arm up to his elbow, he looked a bit out of
it as well.
"He's alive" Chance cheered, "Quiet down, before you go over to talk to your friend,
there's a thing or two you might want to know" The Doctor said his tone serious,
"Is he gonna be alright?" Nick asked, "Possibly, it depends" The Doctor said,
"On what bro?" Chad asked frowning.
The Doctor glared at the group before talking again,
"What might have just seemed like a 'bad cut' to you common people,
turned out to be something pretty dangerous" He said, getting some concerned looks,
"Mr.Paul got a rather large shard of glass stuck in him, the smaller pieces
we're a bit tedious to get out, but weren't our biggest concern after seeing where
the large piece was stuck, it was close to his ulnar artery- which as some of you might even know
if you cut it, you'll bleed out pretty quickly and drop dead" He told them,
the glances going from concern to fear. "Now it was shoved in pretty deep, and it would be hard
to figure out if the shard of glass was anymore jagged, and have a chance to snag the artery
and he'd bleed out before we removed it, so we figured our best option would be to push
the rest through and out his arm, rather then gamble, and try and pull it out" The Doctor said
seeing the fearful and disgusted looks, "So we pushed it in and out, it caused another nasty cut in
his arm, but at least it avoided a major artery, although his ulnar nerve and median nerve
we're heavily damaged" The Doctor explained.
"What does all this mean, is he okay?" Logan asked,
"Not exactly, he needs time for his hand and arm to heal, most importantly those nerves,
he won't be able to use that arm or hand for a good while, I'm hoping it'll be a painful
recovery, which is what happens with most patients" The Doctor said thoughtfully,
"You what?!" Nick questioned angrily, "You trying to get dropped?" Logan asked,
"What kind of a 'Doctor' says that!?" Kade asked, the Doctor getting angered glares from everyone,
adjusting his coat he spoke again.
"If he isn't getting a lot of pain, but rather losing sensation, he could end up losing feeling in
that arm" The Doctor explained quietly, a scared look replacing the once angry faces,
"I'll give you some alone time- he's free to leave tonight I reccomend picking up his prescription at the store for when he goes home, also he has lost a great deal of his already rather thin blood..Probably from drinking alcohol its known to thin blood. Give him medicine, vitamin B's, food and some rest, and try to keep up with progress" The Doctor said leaving out swiftly.
The Team looked at one another, before walking over to Jake's bedside, he heard them coming and looked over
still looking dazed.
"Yoooo" Jake his voice dragged and soft, "Hey bro, how do you feel?" Logan quickly asked,
"Out here" Jake responded yawning, "Are you ready to come home?" Chance asked, "Yeah Sid, I ain't confined
to this white box no more, I'm my own person bro" Jake slurred a bit, "He's loopy as heck" Nick chuckled,
"He probably had a butt-load of anesthesia, plus he lost blood" Anthony commented watching as Jake looked confused at everyone, "What's wrong buddy?" Kade asked, "I'm trying to dab" Jake said frowning,
"Then do it bro" Chad laughed, "I can't...Where'd my arm go? On vacation without me?" Jake questioned his confused voice drowsy, Logan looked a little sad before whispering, "He's probably trying to use his right arm".
"Jake, its late, we'll get you home in just a little while, don't strain yourself, okay?" Nick told him, "Got it tea man" Jake told him, before he got the others away. "Let's get his medicine, vitamins, soup, pain-killers, get his other car home- its stupid but I figure one of us vlog some of the hospital then Jake when he gets home, also anyone who takes the first car home can clean up the glass. We also need to go ask the nurses for help getting him into a wheel-chair and into the car, so we can all get some rest, I'm sure tomorrow is full of surprises" Nick said, "Let's get to it" Anthony said, as the team broke, going out to finish their tasks and perpare for Jake coming home, a while after they all left Jake alone,
the door quietly squeaked back open.
"Is it time yet broooo?" Jake questioned yawning looking over, "Oh my goodness" The person said softly going over to examine him, Jake's eyes widened slightly, "E-Ebony? Or am I seeing things?" Jake questioned,
"Its me, I'm here" Ebony said her eyes filling with tears of fear, before she hugged him, holding him in her warm embrace.
