Erika sat in her apartment, she'd already put Jackie to sleep, but she couldn't seem to shut her eyes,
it was after Jake's party, after the proposal, and all she could think of was the heated argument
Jake got into with his parents, before she was told to go home by Logan, who already saw how bad it was getting. Erika felt terrible starting more trouble for Jake, *Should we even get married? Be more then friends?* Erika thought as she got out of bed, walking around the house in thought, she looked down playing with the ring on her finger. *Jake developed a drinking problem after I left, along with all the other mess he got in, maybe I'm toxic for him...* Erika thought sadly, although she would love to be in Jake's life, she still didn't want to cause Jake more grief, *Maybe it'd be best for him to find a better girl* Erika thought sitting on her couch, she looked at the ring once more biting her lip as silent tears dropped down her face. *Maybe its time to make a sacrific, really think about Jake's well being for once-* Erika was thinking till she heard a knock on her door, she tensed up, before she jumped up after hearing the knock getting louder, she heard Jackie start to whimper in the other room, so she gathered her courage and went to open the door.Jake stepped in, taking the time he shocked Erika to grab her hips stepping into the apartment kissing her deeply, Erika tried to speak, but eventually gave in kissing Jake back, before pulling back,
Jake grinned at her, "I missed that" Jake said licking his lips, Erika blushed, before pushing Jake back slightly, "What are you doing here?" Erika whispered, while Jake went to close her door, before going to sit down."I'm here for you Erika" Jake said grinning, "Jake, didn't you hear your parents?" Erika asked frowning,
"I'm 21 years old, I don't need Mommy and Daddies approval to get married" Jake said laughing a bit, Erika bit her lip nervously, "Is everything okay?" He asked frowning, "I'm fine...But Jake honestly your friends and family's opinions should matter" Erika told him, "Listen I love them to death, but Erika, this is about us" Jake told her before standing back up putting his arms around her, "All I need to get married is you" Jake whispered in her ear, "What if I say no..." Erika said quietly, Jake got stiff, before backing up,
"Huh?" He questioned, "Jake we need to talk..." Erika said softly, "Shut up...Come on Erika, they'll come around" Jake said already sounding hurt, "Jake, this isn't about anyone else" Erika told him,
"What are you talking about then?" Jake asked sadly, "Its been a rough ride for the both of us- mainly you but..." Erika started to say feeling her stomach churn as she spoke, "Erika please, don't do this" Jake said looking down, "Jake, think about it, when I left you were sleeping around, drinking, fighting, and look at me, I just thought you were cheating and did it first, we both need some fixing up" Erika told him, Jake looked up meeting her eyes, his own sparkling with tears."Jake please don't cry, I just feel like we got a lot of cleaning up to do, we can't marry without trusting each other, we can't raise a child together" Erika said trying to be as stern but still loving as possible,
"Erika we can make it!" Jake told her trying not to get too loud for Jackie's sake,
"Maybe we can, but not right now, so many people are against it-" Erika was saying before Jake interrupted,
"Yeah including you" He mumbled, Erika hugged him tightly, "Jake I love you, and I want to make sure your ready," Erika started to explain while staring at Jake, "I know you have trust issues, and what I did was possibly the worst thing that could happen in a relationship, I want us to really love and trust each other
before this happens, I don't want to hurt you again" Erika said squeezing him, Jake didn't speak they just stood there in silence for a while."I get it, maybe I'm rushing" Jake said with a sigh, "Is that all your thinking?" Erika questioned,
"I'm thinking about getting a drink" Jake said with a dry chuckle, "Promise me you'll just go to bed tonight?" Erika said looking up at him, "I promise" Jake said kissing her forehead, "I can keep that promise, if you let me stay the night" He told her coyly, Erika chuckled quietly, "Why not?" She said. The two stayed in Erika's bed, snuggling each other, both loving being engulfed within one anothers warmth once again after so long, sleeping bittersweetly together.
Jake and Erika got up together, they didn't speak much, as Jake helped Erika get Jackie ready for the day, and they both got cleaned up themselves, Jake was about to leave when Erika grabbed his hand slipping her ring off her finger back into his palm.
"No Erika, I want you to keep this, please, so you won't forget" Jake said putting it back on her,
"So I won't forget?" Erika questioned, "So you won't forget, your mine" Jake said quietly, Erika smiled wiping her tears away before kissing Jake then pulling away, "Wait a second, if we're gonna go to being just friends after this, I think we can do better then that" Jake said pulling her back, kissing her deeper,
as he gripped the sides of her face, and she had her arms around his neck, as they started getting more heated, exploring each other like they'd never met, after a few minutes they both finally moved for air,
Jake kissed her neck softly, then hugged her, while they both slightly panted."I'll see you later, buddy" Jake said with a small smile, "Bye, pal" Erika said lightly punching his arm,
before he left out. Erika quietly watched Jake leave, not even barely hearing Jackie babbling in the background as she watched her other side leave her, her heart heavy. Jake started to drive home
going by a liquor store while he went, he thought about pulling in, but decided against it thinking he'd keep the promise to Erika for right then, Jake gripped his wheel, it hurt him inside to think of Erika not being his, but at least he had something to look forward to.
