Chapter 40 Hurting With or Without

Erika swallowed nervously, even though she'd been around Jake as Ebony, it was like seeing him for the first time all over again, she turned to look at Jake, he motioned her over, and she slowly stood beside his bed, holding one arm with her other hand, trying not to look into his eyes.

Erika could feel Jake's gaze on her, she didn't even want to try and think about what was going on through his head right then, but she was sure he was about to tell her to get out of his life after all the trouble she'd caused.

"Erika..." Jake said quietly, "Jake, before you say anything, I'm sorry, I've never been more wrong about anything, I was mad, I missed you, I had something to drink, I thought you were with someone else- There's no room for excuses, I just, I- I" Erika blurted out, her eyes starting to heat up again, her heart breaking at the thought of losing Jake again. Jake slowly reached over taking Erika's hand in his, Erika closed her eys tightly, "Just say you hate me, call me a dog, tell me what I should of heard at that alter!" Erika said her voice breaking at the end, as she started hiccup cryin, she felt Jake squeeze her hand slightly, before starting to rub circles on the back of her hand with his thumb, instantly making her feel warm and calmed,
before she snatched her hand back.

"Erika don't do that..." Jake said his voice still lower then normal, "No you don't do that! Don't you dare love me, I don't deserve it!" Erika yelled her tears falling freely, as she turned her head away again, Jake slowly sat up a little groaning in pain, he grabbed both Erika's hands this time making her gasp slightly,
"Look at me" Jake told her, Erika slowly looked at him meeting his eyes with her glossy ones.

"Erika...Can I tell you something, and you just stop running away from me?" Jake asked, Erika nodded sniffling, "I heard you when I was out, I heard everyone...I didn't really try until I heard you though,
do you know why?" Jake questioned, "I do-don't Erika said sniffling again, "I was scared...Erika, I was thinking Banks might have still shot you too, I thought...I thought something awful happened, I couldn't face waking up and you weren't here" Jake told her before coughing some sucking in a pained breath from his mask,
"Jakey..." Erika said pouting her lip trembling, she crouched some leaning over the bed towards him, Jake put his arms around her hugging her tightly. "Jake, I'm so sorry, I don't think I can ever stop apologizing,
your the best, all this other guys aren't worth any freakin' thing! I've never met anyone like you Jake" Erika told him softly hugging him back, "You were gonna give your life for me, how can I ever repay you?" She questioned still unable to control her tears and emotion dripping voice, "Give your life to me" Jake mumbled in her ear, "Wh-what?" Erika questioned pulling back to look at him, Jake slowly took off his oxygen mask,
"Don't play, marry me, be Erika Paul like you were suppose to" Jake said staring staight into her eyes, before he grabbed the sides of her face pulling her in, the two locked lips together, as they both heated up, warm passionate lips smacking together over and over, each kiss getting more intense, till it turned to a open mouth kiss, Erika slowly got on the bed over Jake, as it turned into a makeout, till Erika finally pulled back, fluttering back open her eyes, only to have her heart torn in pieces, seeing Jake had started crying, he hadn't opened his eyes after the kiss...But she could see the tears coming down.
