The day your bandages came off (Jon)
We all came in today, you were awake but not with a happy face you normally greet us with. There was a sour look on your face. When we all look at you properly, we soon realised why.
"Your bandage is off now".
"You look normal again like your old self". You grumbled something but none of us could catch what you said.
"What was that J?"
"My hair is gone and I don't like it" you muttered.
"You have less hair than me now". You glared at Donnie. "Maybe we take some from Jon. He's got plenty to give around". Donnie said playing my hair.
"Get off Donnie. I know that's not the reason for your grumpy mood". I look closer at your face trying to do it without you knowing. There I see it just as you turn your head to try and prevent me but I see it anyway, the scar along the side of your head.
"Oh, J". You clench your fists into the blanket. You were getting worked up so I tried to soothe you.
"Get off me Jon. I look hideous. I can't have close up photos anymore. What is everyone gonna think of me? I don't like me anymore. It's there for the rest of my life same with this one". You lift your shirt to reveal the one on your stomach below your belly button and there was a small one on your side too. "They are reminders of what happened. I am going to see every day of the rest of my life". I could see the pain of hurt in your eyes. I know this is going to be a problem as you recover. With your very short hair you can really see the scar where it starts from your forehead above your left eye over the top of your head around like a circular shape back above your left ear and down in front of it.
"When your hair grows you will only see two bits of your scar J". You glare at me and the others. Then you grab your Red Sox baseball cap off the side cabinet by your bed and put it on. That is not going to solve the problem. The problem is in your head. I didn't want to say anything; I will let you figure it out by yourself.
"Hey, you can always have the same haircut like the one in 1994" replied Donnie. You glared at him. "You are halfway there with the moody look J". You threw one of your pillows at him. It hit him square in the face.
"I see you got your aim back Jordan" laughed Joe who also got a pillow to the face. Which did you leave with one pillow left for you to lie against? Your mood changed into anger and yelled at us to leave you alone and get out. Your personality change is all to do with your brain injury. We know it's not your fault really.
