"Party at Ocean Blue on Friday," I texts to one of the gossip girls in school. It's one of the houses where we throw a party after Landon's football game. Mom lets us use it because she didn't like it when we throw parties at our main house.
"Lan, I haven't packed my things because it was too.... they were too..... Noticeable? Mom and dad were up on my ass ever since yesterday," I told Landon at the party. Mom was seated at the living room designing her new fashion line finally after tailing everywhere I went. When she did finally leave me alone to make her new designs for me, she decided to open her office door, making it hard for me to get out of the house with a luggage and bag pack.
"I know. I got it all taken care of. Just worry about your ass getting on the plane," Landon said.
"Which plane?" I asked.
"The normal planes, sweetie, with everyone," Landon corrected me. I was taken aback for moment. It was going to be my first time riding in public planes. I never get to ride planes with strangers before. It's weird but you'll get it if, since birth, you've been riding on private jets and planes because you have a mom who is so judgmental that liked to ride on her high horse. "Your flight is in an hour so go to the car parked outside. Henry will be waiting for you."
I nodded and stepped out of the house, finishing up my cup. I walked to Henry who was patiently waiting for me beside the car. "Don't tell anyone," I sang.
"I promise. You can trust me Madam," Henry replied. I smiled then stepped in the car. Fifteen minutes later we were headed to the airport. Landon followed us with his car.
"Ok, here are all the things you need. You'll be staying at one of the houses I bought last year when I thought dad was going to let me go to Colorado State," Landon said as he handed me a packet. Landon was already a senior but dad got him to start applying and preparing for college during his junior year. He fell in love with Colorado State and has already done house shopping but when junior year ended, my dad changed his mind.
"Don't forget to call me," Landon hollered. I gave him a thumb up and waved at them. I got on the plane with nothing on me but the packet and phone. Had no bag or anything because Landon said he took care of everything.
I sat on my assigned seat then looked outside. I'm going to miss Southview, even if it sucked. Then someone sat next to me, pulling my attention. It was a stranger. It's weird, but the thought of finally sitting next to a stranger on a plane made me feel I was a normal person. Plus, the guy was hot. He has a chiseled jaw, muscular body, and his blonde wavy hair stood out. His eyes were fiercely green. I wanted to talk to him, but it'll be weird. So I just slept on the plane.
"Excuse me, Miss. Excuse me?" I heard a husky voice and felt a tap on my shoulder. I fluttered my eyes open and saw the guy. "We've landed."
I nod at him then I stood up from my seat, rubbing my eyes. When I walked out, I had no idea what to do. Ask someone for a phone? No way. I looked around and stood there. What am I going to do? I was only wearing a skirt and a Crawford designed blouse under a Varsity jacket, which I have forgotten to give back to Kevin. Then, I spotted my name from a sign that a guy was holding. It clearly read "Lilian Crawford." I walked over to him.
"Lilian Crawford?" he asked. I nodded then he offered his arm. "This way."
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Your brother has assigned me to guide you to his house," he spoke with mannerism in his tone.
"Oh, so you know Landon?" I asked.
"Master Landon had trusted me to help you in your needs. Your clothes are already there," he said.
"And may I know your name sir?" I asked, politely.
"Oh, I'm sorry Madam. You can call me by T." He said. T? Hm.
We arrived at the house and I got in, having two ladies greet me already.
The first couple of days felt calming, as I did not have anyone telling me what to do.
I opened up the boxes that Landon had shipped which arrived just this morning. I guess I'll be a new person on Monday. In the first box I opened were glasses. Geeky glasses, I might add. They came in different color: Pink, Black, Blue, Red, Green, Purple, and 3 others with patterns. I tried one on and looked at the mirror. Not bad. It wasn't prescribed, of course, because I have perfectly good eyesight.
I opened the other bigger box. Inside were shorts that also came in different colors. Then, the other box was jeans, also in different colors. Then, another box contained tops and plain shirts. Thankfully, it weren't mom's products because the rest were my mom's products. So I opened the other box, in it were skirts and 5 occasional dresses that my mom designed.
I should have never trusted Landon with my clothes. Then, I opened a small box that contained my undergarments. Hoping that the last big box won't be a Crawford, I opened it and saw that they were shoes.
One of the maids has helped me unpack them and store it in the closet. There was also a new Mac for me on the table. I opened it and I had to enter a passcode. It won't be a problem. This is from my brother so the code would be ' IAmAwesomeAndLilianIsNot'
Of course, I got in and I saw my schedule for Monday already set. My bag already contained books I needed and I was already registered. All I need is to wake up and go to school.
"Sarah, do you know where I could get a charger for this?" I asked one of my maids as I held unto my phone.
"There's a small convenient store down the street. They might have it," She said.
"Thanks," I said.
"I could go for you Madam," she offered.
"Oh, no, it's fine. But I would like your company and I wouldn't want to get lost," I said.
Thankfully, T was to help me get use to the place and remember the town. Sarah helped me remembered the streets in case I get lost. While we bonded, I asked T and Sarah if they could pretend to be my parents. At first they beg to disagree, but I convinced them soon enough. They just need to pretend that they're my parents in case I get called in the office and needed to see my parents.
"Wake up, daughter. It's time for breakfast," I heard Sarah call for me, and the pretending begins. Sarah only looked like she was 35 but she is in her mid-40's actually.
"Ok, Mom," I said sarcastically. I walked downstairs and offered for them to eat with me. I also begged Sonia to be my aunty. She agreed after seeing my puppy cute face.
When I got upstairs to dress up for school, I picked out the clothes I was most comfortable with. I chose to wear my pink glasses, blue tank top with a black blazer, and black short shorts. Today is officially the day I am no longer Lilian Crawford. Now, I am the geek who only wants to focus in the great viewpoint of Riverwood High's well-educated teachers.
"How do I look?' I asked Sarah and Sonia.
"Like a geek," Sonia replied. I told them about what I had to do, including T. They seem pretty trustworthy, and they promised that they won't speak a word to anyone.
T had driven me to the school campus.
And so the pretending begins.
I felt the uneasiness crawl into my body, but I ignored the feeling when all I can ever think about, as I stepped foot on Riverwood High School's campus, was how will my life become. There are just so many possibilities that could happen in just a spun of one semester. I could be failing classes, considering that they taught higher than Southview.
Now, escaping from my parents and flying to Colorado wasn't the plan I have mentioned in the beginning. This was technically Landon's plan, but because of his plan, it led to mine.
