As I hopped off the car, I saw eyes were on me. This is like when I was at Southview except these eyes were much creepier and more judgmental. If I was at Southview I wouldn't mind if they stare at me because I didn't need to hide.
But I have to blend in and not get notice. I tuck my head and stared at the ground, keeping a low profile. I had already printed out my schedule and all I need to do is get in the right classroom.
"Excuse me," I said to the girl walking pass me. I need some help to know where the office is because Landon sent me an email about having to get the receipt of my fee.
The girl looked at me with a weird look. She frowned at me and then tried to fake a smile. "I'm sorry. I'm having a bad day. What is it you need?" She said. At least she said sorry.
"Do you know where I could find the main office?" I asked.
"Oh, you're the new kid? Well, you just walk straight until you reach the end and then turn left and the second door to the right," she said.
"Thanks," I smiled at her and she walked off. I followed her directions, stepping to the side as people walked straight at me rudely. I got in the building and the hall wasn't crowded. The hallway is wide and the lockers were twice the size of regular lockers. I turned to the left then counted the doors. There it was. I stepped in and found a lady in her middle 50s typing on her keyboard.
"Excuse me. I'm Lilian Crawford and I'm here to pick up a receipt," I said to the lady.
She looked up to me then looked for something in the drawers. "Yes, Lilian Crawford. Paid full for this semester," she said and handed me a small piece of paper. "I'm guessing you'll get lost on your first day so wait here and I'll find someone to guide you."
What a nice lady.
I nodded at her then sat on the comfy seat. I read the receipt she gave to me and my eyes widened in shock. Is this a joke? My expectation of expensive wasn't even close to amount I am seeing on the receipt. I owe so much to Landon.
"Mr. Parker, just the guy I need," I heard the lady talked to a guy who was passing by the front desk coming from the principal's office. He turned to look at her. "Would you mind guiding Ms. Crawford to her first period class?"
"Sure thing," the guy said and he gestured for me to follow him. I stood up from the seat and followed him out the door. "Can I see your schedule?"
I handed it to him and kept my head down. The guy was hot, but luckily I good at masking my fascination over him.
"Okay, so you have first period in this room," the guy casually told me as he pointed to the door. I nodded and still had my head down.
"I'm Mason, by the way," he said and held his hand out. I shook it then looked up to him.
"I'm Lil-" I paused. "Lily." Like it'll make a difference, right?
Mason examined me from bottom to top. "You look familiar. Have we met before?" He asked. Shoot. Just what I needed. I shook my head at him then looked down again. "Are you sure?" He asked.
"Yes, I'm definitely sure," I affirmed.
"Okay, then," he said and just stood there in front of me with his hands tuck in his front pocket. He was about almost six feet tall and looked very muscular as tight varsity jacket wrapped around his biceps. His eyes were fiercely green and his hair was like the ones I saw on that guy on the plane. "Seriously, you look so familiar," He said.
I was starting to sweat. My glasses started to fog. What if he asks me why I was flying by myself on a plane, if he remembered? I took my glasses off and wiped it with the hem of my shirt. "Oh I remember now. You're that girl from the plane," he said.
