The Queen of Stars

Chapter 42

People were running around me trying to get everything perfect before my parents arrived. They sadly had to stay behind to get some things 'in order' and 'tie up some loose ends'. This is the first time me and the twins have ever been let out of our parents watchful eye. To say it was refreshing not have every single action monitored is an understatement. I laughed as i watch Max tease Mason, chasing him around the garden. Mason lunged at Max tackling him to the ground, I cover my mouth with my hands giggling at their playful behaviour. I could tell that one day they would be great warriors like my parents.... I see Mason push Max away and walk away brooding, Max just fell to the ground laughing.... Well maybe give it a couple of years. I run a hand through my long golden hair looking around a place I would soon call home. It was so large, so beautiful. I missed everybody back home though. I missed my parents even though i knew i was going to see them soon. I missed my Aunt and Uncle, my cousins. I missed my old pack. I knew it was going to get lonely, but i guess ill have my parents, siblings and- 

" Stella!" 

My head whirled around and I saw Titus running towards me, he looked nervous- scared even and let me tell you, Titus never ever gets scared.  So suddenly the wind turned cold and was flinging my hair around me. Dark stormy clouds were making its way across the sky and it created a deep pit in my stomach, something was wrong. I turned around only to find the gardens abandoned, not a person in sight. Only Titus who was gripping my wrist tightly. 

The earth beneath me was trembling, the clouds were screaming in terror. Every once of my that now belonged to the earth was screaming at me, warning me. I turn back to Titus, he was talking to me, speaking but i couldn't hear him. All I could hear was the earth begging me to move, to do something-

Suddenly, my dream stops. Dream... or memory? I can't remember that happening. But something about it seems so familiar. A time where I could literaly feel my magic, my power and its connection to nature. How it spoke to me, warned me-

I blinked. Once, twice. Before my eyes fluttered open. Hospital.... why am I in hospital? I push myself up on my elbows. Wincing when my tight muscles protested at such a quick action. What happened? Ohhhh that room, the photos... Leah? 

Leah. Did they find her? Has she been question yet!

"Shhhhh Love." A soft soothing voice came from beside me. 

" Lucian." I whimper turning to look at him. His handsome face looked tired, those beautiful eyes filled with distress and terror. " Whats wrong?" I whisper, i place one of my hands on his cheek in an attempt to comfort him. He sighs leaning into it and closing his eyes. I stoke his cheek with my thumb. I wonder what thoughts were whirling around in his head. He was blocking me out so something must be wrong. 

" The Island was under attack Stella." He whispered in reply. My heart stops. " Shops and homes were destroyed. Many of our people are homeless and of in need of answers that I can't provide for them." 

" What-" I closed my eyes taking a moment to get my breathing under control and clear the tears that were now clogging my throat." What happened? Who did this?" 

" Thats the problem. We have no idea. And it all seemed so perfectly timed as well. Leah was in questioning and it was in the bear minute period of the whole day where the security system was weak. You were here in hospital and I was here with you so I couldn't go be at security. Everybody else was busy." 

" Well wheres Leah now?" 

" That's the other thing, she's gone." 

I stilled and I swear my heartbeat stopped. " What." 

" Whoever did this must of taken her when they left." Lucian replied looking at me with so my regret. " The room has also gone, its like it was never there to begin with." 

I try to say something but no words come out. 

" The place?" I manage to whisper after a while of silence. " How damaged is the palace?" 

" It was left untouched, surprisingly ." 

" Good. The people can use it as a place of refuge until their houses have been rebuilt...." I explain." .... if thats okay with you and your family." 

Lucian just smiled and hopped into the bed beside me, holding me close. 

" You don't need to ask love, you are to be Queen one day. Plus its a big turn on hearing you be so protective over our people." 

Laughter bubbled up from inside me and I could feel myself going to mush under his touch and those words. I burry my face into his shoulder and he strokes my hair. He makes me feel calm, happy. 

" I want to go see it. All the damage, maybe there is something I can do to help. I could help try figure out who did this..." 

" My little star, you need to rest! You have been out cold for days." He protests, holding me even tighter to him. I just slap his arm.

" And now i'm super energised and ready to kick some ass." I push back. 

Against my mates protests I get out of bed and stretch my muscles out. There was a moment of silence where my mind allowed itself to think about all the things that happened inside my mind while I was uncounsious. The memory... and all before it. I turn back to look at Lucian how was looking up at me, his facial expression unreadable. He was crying, because of me. My wolf whimpered at the back of my mind. 

" Come on Lucian." I whisper nudging him a little. " I'm fine but we need to go do this." 

Reluctantly he got up and after gathering all my things and taking a moment to look at all the beautiful flowers and cards people had left for me we left, taking it all with us. 

I had taken only one step outside when I looked beyond the ruins that lay before me when I felt it. 

The rumbling of the earth and the raging storm of the sky. I closed my eyes but as much as I tried to ignore it the part of my that had been buried deep. the part that was connected to nature screamed at me, warning me. 

War was coming.
