(chapter 20)

I wake up and get dressed in a black v neck t shirt and camo pants and my combat boots and my lieutenant jacket

I go downstairs after getting dressed and I make my way to my kitchen
I grab a Apple and a water bottle and I make my way to my door open it, step out of my house and lock the door then go to my car and drive to work

I arrive 15 minutes later traffic was 5 minutes slower today so if there wasn't any traffic I would have gotten there in ten minutes

I walk into the firehouse with goodbyes from the other fire fighters leaving there shift, I walk up to the common room to see Shay and Stella watching the news which is showing a segment on the mother who tried to kill her kids yesterday I walk over to the kitchen and make myself a cup of coffee and lean against the counter
"Hey" Cruz says as he get a cup of coffee
"Morning" I replie
"Everyone has heard that you and Stella helped people out of a car yesterday" he says smiling
"Yeah some bitch trying to hurt her children" I say rolling my eyes

"Hermann and Kidd, please come to my office" boden says from the door of his office
"Which hermann?" My dad says
"Sophia" he replie
"Oooo your in trouble" Otis says and Cruz laughs
"I bet I'm not" I say walking to the office with stella on my hip

We walk into Bodens office and sit down in the seats in front of his desk
"Yes chief" Stella says
"I heard you participate in helping people out of a car wreck" boden
"Yes sir" I say nodding
"Well first I would like to say thankyou on the behalf of firehouse 21, they told me to make sure you know your are loyal firefights and that you could have easily walked away from all of this since you weren't on shift. And I personally want to Thank you for helping them since you didn't need to" boden says sincere
"Thanks cheif and I would help anyone in danger even if I'm off shift its my life it doesn't leave me when I walk out of the firehouse" I say
"Very well lieutenant" he says
"Is that all?" I ask
"Yes but please go do your statements before shift starts you have 20 minutes" he says and we rush out of his office to go our statements

We finish out statements mills and shay make breakfast once it's finished everyone sits down to eat Otis starts talking
"Looks like today is going to be slow usually we can't even eat break fast before we get called out" he says astonished
"Dont jinxs us!" Capp says eating some eggs
"Way h it happen now"Cruz says

Engine 51, Truck 81, squad 3, Ambulance 61...hotel fire 1555 Lasko rd.

"Freakin gosh, Otis your a dumbass" I say smacking him on the back of the head making Kelly laugh along with the rest of squad and truck

"I didn't set the hotel on fire" Otis say offended

"You just jinxed us you ass" Kelly says pulling him turnout pants up and putting his jacket on

I put my jacket and pants on and trab my tank and mast then run into the truck and I see James running
"Your late!" Kelly shouts from the front of the truck
"Sorry lieutenant I wa-'' he started but couldn't finish
"Just hurry up" I say to him and Kelly nods a Thank you to me and I nod back and we sit down

that's how me and Kelly communicate through nodding because everything is so awkward

"How about you shut your mouth and sit your ass down" James replied as he get in the truck and the only open seat is next to me and he goes to sit down but i put my tank up on the seat
"Hey Cruz come sit next me to" I say and he nods and James rakes his seat as he takes the seat I put my tank on
"Check tanks everyone we got three minutes untill we arrive and we won't have time to check them before we go in" Kelly says and everyone starts checking there tanks once we're done we finally get the the hotel

"capp you with me on the south side"
"Cruz and Hermann your together on the north side"
"Tony and Darden your on east"
"Truck takes west"
"And we go up levels from there keep your location on"
"Kenny sit this one out"
Kelly says barking out orders as everyone get the truck hoses ready and going so we can use them

"Got it lieutenant" we all say and start running into the building in different directions

Me and Cruz start walking down the hall on the north side with some of truck with us
"Cruz listen I hear crying" I say as I listen closely and feel the walls for heat
"Yeah it's a baby and it's In here" Casey says to me
"Any heat?" I ask
"No where good, but the door is locked" he says
"Anyone have a haligan with them?" I ask
"Yes I do here" Cruz says handing me it
I take it and pry the door open and as soon as I open the door I see a lady early 20s laying on the ground unconscious with a baby in the crib with a shirt over its mouth
"The lady put the shirt over the baby's mouth to filter the air going in its lungs and most likely collapsed in the process of helping herself" Casey says picking up the woman and I pick the baby up and put it in my coat to protect it
"Let go take them down and come back up I would say we have about 4 minutes before it becomes unstable" I say examining the walls from heat and running outside with Casey at my side, we get hem outside and gabby and shay run to help them
"Okay come on" I say to Casey and we go back in the see Cruz carrying two woman and my dad and mouth carrying a big man maybe 400 pounds out of the building
Me and Casey run around and grab an old woman out of her hotel
"My games no I'm still watching tv why are you taking me, RAPE!RAPE" she screams as we take her outside
"Ma'am there was a fire" I say and she keeps yelling at everyone

Me,cruz,casey,my dad and mouch make our way back into the building after cheif said there was a family of 7 in an hotel down the hall we open the door and see them all on the ground on the floor...
