The bell signaled for the final, and my personal favorite, period of the day of the end of the week. Maths. "Meet you by the lockers at the end of school?" My best friend asked as we split ways. "Sure thing!!" I called as I walked down the hallway.

Now you may be thinking: Maths?! Your favorite subject?! It's not because I enjoy it. It's because of the company in the classroom. I had made friends with a boy named Shawn Mendes, and he and I sat next to each other during class.

He was really friendly, and often needed help with his maths, which I gladly gave him. I smiled at the thought of him, my cheeks tainted a rosy pink, luckily it wasn't noticeable. Over a short space of time, I had fallen for Shawn. Pretty bad. Of course, is never told him. He'd probably never return my feelings, and I would hate to make things awkward between us.

I walked into the classroom and smiled when I saw him. He looked up at me and beamed, waving. I chuckled and waved back. I went toward him and laid my bag in the floor before sitting next to him. "Hey, (y/n). How you doing?" He asked, giving me a sideways hug. "Good thanks!! Glad it's nearly the end of the day!!" I said.

"Um, can I ask you somethin-" he began but was cut short when the teacher walked in. "Never mind.." he mumbled.

*time skip to end of lesson*

"I gotta go meet (b/f/n) by the locker." I explained to Shawn, rushing to gather my things. He chuckled. "Ah, ok. Have a good weekend!!" He said. "Thanks, you too!!" I said, grabbing my bag. He opened his mouth to say something else, but quickly closed it, so I hurried off to meet (b/f/n).

The hallways simmered down quickly, and (b/f/n) was nowhere to be seen. It didn't bother me, she often had to talk to the teachers about work she didn't understand. Just then, two hands slammed my hands above shoulders, catching me by surprise.

"Hey, slut." It was Jared, my ex. I rolled my eyes. "Go away, Jared." I said. He smirked at me. "How about no. I can do what I want..." he said, trailing one hand down to grip my waist strongly.

I fought back. "Let me go!!" I yelled, which was no use, because there was no one around. "Again, the answer is no." He said, licking his lips and inching toward my face. I got one hand free and  shoved him as hard as possible, which managed to be in his face.

He stumbled back. A look of rage settled on his features. He brought a hand up to slap me, but was pulled around by someone. "Shawn." I breathed. Then all hell broke loose.

Shawn was on top of Jared, punching him, but once Jared regained himself, he pulled Shawn over and started pummeling him. I screamed and rand up to them, gaining an accidental punch in the stomach from Jared. I groaned in pain, but continued to try separate them.

Suddenly, a confused teacher and (b/f/n) hurtled round the corner. The teacher managed to get Jared off Shawn, and I helped Shawn to his feet. He leaned heavily on me and groaned.

Shawn had a black eye and a cut on his cheek and above his eyebrow. There was also a bruise on his other cheek and his nose was red, but not bleeding.

"I'm taking you home." I say to Shawn, once I explained what happened to the teacher. (B/f/n) and I lived close to the school and often walked home together, but I needed to patch Shawn up.

I took Shawn's keys from him and helped him into the front seat of the. I got in the car and started driving toward my house. "A-are you ok?" Shawn asked me. "Shawn, what the hell?! Am I ok?! Compared to you, I look just grand!!" I basically yelled. Shawn laughed, then winced in pain. "Hey." I said grabbing his arm. "I'll help fix you up."

When we reached the front door of my house, Shawn paused. "Won't your parents be mad about bringing some beat up guy inside?" He asked. "Well, this 'beat up guy' saved me...and their at work." I answered, letting him inside.

I helped Shawn upstairs, to the bathroom and he got on the counter. I dabbed at some wounds and applied a little cream on some. "Can you take off your shirt?" I ask him, once I've patched up his face as best as possible.

I don't know if it's a trick of the light, but he seems to turn a light pink as he slips his shirt off. I nearly start drooling at his abs, before I catch myself just in time. I gently press two fingers to one of the bruises on his stomach.

"Why?" I ask quietly, looking up into his deep, chocolate brown eyes. He sighs. "Jared was going to hurt you, of course I had to help. He still punched you. I heard." He says and lifts up my shirt to reveal the purple bruise. I pulled my shirt down, embarrassed.

"It's nothing." I mumbled. Shawn raised an eyebrow. "You fixed me up, let me help you." He said firmly. I sighed in defeat and hopped onto the counter. "Your shirt..." Shawn said. I blushed crimson. "I'll close my eyes?" Shawn said, also blushing. "Good luck with finding what you need. " I replied, giggling, and pulling my shirt off.

Shawn applied son cream to my bruise and once it was done, he took my hand. "(Y/n)... I meant to tell you in maths but I never got the chance. I like you. Like, like you like you." He said.

I smiled. "I like you too... " I said, inching toward his face. When our lips met, I almost melted. It was like attaching two puzzle pieces that were meant to fit. He was perfect for me.
