Baby

A tear escaped my eye and rolled down my cheek. I smiled and looked up to see Shawn's eyes were also glossy, but he was beaming.

I returned my gaze to the little bundle of joy in my arms. I had just given birth to our first son. He was wrapped up soundly in a blanket, staring up at his dad and holding my finger with his tiny hand.

"We made this..." Shawn said in awe. I chuckled. "We sure did." Shawn brought the chair next to the hospital bed and sat down next to me. He grabbed my hand so now I had our baby and my husband holding my hands.

"We're going to be the best parents ever." Shawn sighed, and looked up at me. I nodded. He leaned over and pecked my lips. "I love you." He said. "I love you too." I said, and directed my attention to the baby again.

"And we love you so, so much." I said to our little boy as he gurgled happily.
