Camping

It was a peaceful summers night. The air was clean and fresh, and all you could hear were the sounds of crickets chirping and the fire crackling and a river close by flowing. Shawn and I were out camping. We'd been playing in the river next to a forest for most of the day and had pitched out tents close by it in a field. I insisted it be on the side furthest from the forest because I was scared of physico-killers coming for us. Right now, I was cuddled up in one of Shawn's hoodies ,that was really big for me, with Shawn holding me close. I was sitting between his legs and his arms were wrapped around my waist. We'd watched the sunset and we're now sitting in front of a fire we made and talking.

I was busy laughing at one of his hilarious stories about how he fell off the stage at his concert once. It was so funny, I couldn't stop laughing, and he chuckled along with me. Finally, I managed to compose myself, although I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. "You're so cute when you laugh." He whispered into my ear, and rested his head in the crook of my neck. I leaned my head against him and giggled. "Yeah, whatever."

"Oh, hey! I just remembered something." I said to him, pulling myself from his warm embrace. I unzipped the tent and started scuffling around for what I was looking for. "Come baaaack..." Shawn wined, "I miss you." I laughed at his childishness. "Dude, I'm right here. Plus , you'll be really glad when I find- aha!" I crawled out the tent and brandished a packet of marshmallows in his face. He made a gasping emoji face and I laughed and hit him over the head with the packet. He laughed and then pouted at me. "That was really sore...kiss it better?" He asked.

I sat down next to him before leaning over to kissed the top of his head and then open the pack of marshmallows. I took a few and popped it in my mouth before offering the bag to him. I also grabbed a stick from the pile of firewood we'd collected earlier. I pushed two marshmallows on the end of the stick and began cooking them. "Mm, smell!" Shawn said, holding the marshmallow pack under my face. I ducked my head down to smell them, before Shawn shoved the bag in my face. I pulled up and gave him a scowl while he laughed his butt off at me. "I can't believe you fell for that!" He chuckled and I gently pushed his arm.

I brought my marshmallows from above the flames to inspect them. They were perfectly golden, so I grabbed the top one, getting sticky marshmallow on my fingers. I popped it in my mouth and smiled a gooey marshmallow smile at Shawn. He laughed and took the second cooked marshmallow I offered.

We finished a bunch of marshmallows, especially after playing chubby bunny (I won), and chucked them back in the tent. Then I snuggled into Shawn's side and we lay back and watched the stars. They were so bright and beautiful. I looked over at Shawn who was watching the stars with an amazed expression. The flames from our fire illuminated his face in the dark night, and he looked like a small child. Stress-free and full of happiness and life. Eventually, I realized I was staring and turned to face the stars again. "Thanks for taking me out the house." Shawn said, nestling his head into the crook of my neck again. "No prob." I said, kissing his cheek. I looked up at his dark eyes and he stared down at me. I laughed. "You've got a bit of marshmallow on your lip." I stated and he smirked.

"Why don't you lick it off for me?" He whispered, leaning in for a kiss. My eyes shut gently and our lips met. He rolled onto his side to grab my waist and I tangled my fingers in his chocolaty curls. I got butterflies in my stomach every time Shawn and I kissed, even though we'd been dating almost two years now. I pulled away first and he lay on his back again, while I lifted my head onto his chest. "I love you." I mumbled and looked up to see his reaction. His smile nearly reached both his ears. He kissed my nose and whispered "I love you too." He did that every time we said that, and honestly, it was the cutest thing in the world.

And that was the perfect way to end our camping trip.
