You tapped your pencil on your wooden desk absentmindedly while glaring at the clock. There were only five more minutes of class left. It was very common for you to fall asleep in class, whether it was from boredom or because you didn't get a good nights sleep. The teacher continued to speak about formulas and other difficult problems that you couldn't care less about.
The five minutes were exceedingly sluggish but once time was up, the annoying bell blared through the school and everyone bolted out of their classes. You packed up your bag and draped a strap over your right shoulder. You left the room, giving your teacher a simple ''thank you'' even though you didn't pay attention to anything they taught you that day.
You were excited to get home because your older brothers were taking you out to the movie theaters to watch ''Tootsie'' which was one of your favorite movies. As you took the usual way home, you went through your normal routine of traveling home. Halfway to your house you would hide behind the bushes because that was when the Socs would drive by in their blue mustangs.
There were times where you've been caught and jumped, but having the training from your older brothers, you were able to break out of their attack and escape. You've only been jumped once, and ever since that one experience, you knew for a fact that you never would want to experience that dreadfulness ever again.
You peered through the bushes and watched the blue mustang stroll by. Once it passed all the way, you hopped out from behind the bushes and continued home. A few minutes away from home, a random bark rang through your ears. And the bark didn't sound far away, it sounded like it was right behind you.
You stop in your footsteps and turned around, your eyes widening as you saw a tiny puppy sitting in front of you, wagging its tail at you. Their tongue hung out as it panted, you could tell that the dog was extremely thirsty. An instant smile spread across your lips and you bent down and petted it.
''You're so cute!'' you cooed. ''You're adorable, yes you are!''
The more you petted the cute little puppy, the more you got attached to it. You knew that your brothers would never allow a dog in your house, but as you cradled it in your arms, you shot down those negative thoughts and came to a decision to bring it home. All you had to do was just hide it from your brothers.
''How hard could it be to hide you from my oblivious brothers?'' you spoke to the dog, your voice high pitched. ''I'll take you home and feed you and give you plenty of water to drink.''
