A Jay Halstead Love Story

Chapter 6

Jess' P.O.V.

I can't even think straight. I start to feel my knees buckle from underneath me. Jay grabs me and he starts saying something. I'm not even listening. Adam has to be okay. Jay picks me up and brings me to the car. At this point I can't stop crying.

Jay's P.O.V.

As we drive to Chicago Med all I hear is her crying. It breaks my heart to see her like this. I put my hand on hers and rub my thumb over it.

"He's strong. He will be okay," I reassure her.

"Wh-what happened," she sniffles.

"We went to move into a building where we found the suspect who shot you. Adam was angry and not exactly thinking straight and he got shot," I explained.

She lets out another sob.

"I think the vest caught it though. I left to get you before I found out anything," I say.

We finally arrived at Chicago Med and Jess ran inside. I followed closely behind and searched for Will. When I spotted Will I grabbed Jess' hand and brought her over to Will.

"What's wrong with him?" Jess asked worriedly.

"He did get shot but the vest caught it. He's being discharged as we speak," Will smiles.

I see Adam over at the desk and Jess runs over to him and gives him a huge hug.

"I was so worried," she says as tears are going down her face.

"I'm fine Jess don't worry," he kisses her forehead. He then looks towards me, "thank you for getting her and bringing her here."

"You know I have your back," I smiled.

Jess' P.O.V.

"Do you guys have to go back to work?" I asked.

They both looked at eachother then back at me.

"We actually caught the guy so Voight gave us the rest of the day off," Adam explained.

"Can we go get lunch?" I begged.

"If that's what you want then yes," Jay said.

"The diner?" Adam suggested.

"Yes please," I smiled.

We all hopped into Jay's car and went to the diner. I ordered grilled cheese so I didn't have to have help. After we all went back to Adam and my apartment. Adam invited Kevin over too. For the rest of the night we hung out, watched movies and ate snacks. After jay and Kevin left Adam and I went to our rooms. I had a missed call from Cara. I decided to call her back.

"Hello?" Cara says.

"You called?" I asked.

"Yeah! I just wanted to see if you're positive that I can stay with you," she replied.

"Of course!" I exclaimed. "Adam and I have a guest room and we would be more then happy for you to stay with us."

"I get in at 10PM tomorrow night," she explains.

"When I pick you up my friend Jay or Adam will probably come with me to get you. I'm currently in a sling," I say.

"Oh my god, what happened?" She asked.

"Yesterday we got shot at and well a bullet went straight into my shoulder," I explained.

"That sounds awful, at least I'll be there to help you while they're at work," she said.

"I'm gonna go to sleep. But I'm so excited to see you tomorrow," I exclaimed. 

After I hung up with Cara I put my phone on the charger and drifted off to sleep.
