A Jay Halstead Love Story

Chapter 22

Cara's P.O.V:

"Call Jay, my water just broke," Jess says panicking.

I grab my phone and dial Jay' number. Not even one ring and Jay picks up.

"Hey Cara everything okay?" Jay questions.

"Nope, your girlfriend just went into labor," I explain.

"Where are you? I'll be right there," Jay replies.

"We are at the dress store on Lake Street," I tell him.

"I'll be there in five," he says then hangs up.

"Jay said him and Adam will be here in five," I explain.

Jess' P.O.V:

All of a sudden I feel a contraction hit and cry in pain. It felt like forever before Jay arrived.

"The hospital bag is in Cara's car," I explain to Jay.

"You brought it?" He questions.

"I thought today was the day," I shrugged. "And it is."

Jay grabbed the bag out of Cara's car and we went to his car. He put on his sirens and drove to med.

"We don't need to sirens Jay," I laugh.

"Yes we do. This is an emergency," he replies.

When we get to med Jay grabs my hand and we run inside together.

"My girlfriend is in labor," Jay shouts.

"Jay it's going to be okay," I say as a contraction comes.

I squeeze his hand as it passes. That one of course was a bad one. All of a sudden Will comes over to us.

"We have a room for you if you're ready," he smiles.

"Thank god," I say. "Take me to it."

Jay and I follow Will to the room. Thankfully it was a private room. Will wishes us good luck then leaves to go do something else. The doctor comes in and tells me I'm only 3cm dilated. This was going to be a long way to go before my baby arrived.

10 Hours Later...

All that work was soon going to be worth it. I was exhausted but all I wanted to do was hold her in my arms. I looked over at Jay who was looking at our baby girl and smiling. He was smiling bigger then I have ever seen. The doctor handed me our baby and gave Jay and I some alone time.

"She's so beautiful," I say crying.

"She looks exactly like you already," Jay smiled.

"I didn't think I could love someone more then I love you but I'm looking at her and now I know it's possible," I smile.

Jay kisses my forehead, "I love you so much Jess."

"She really needs a name," I reply.

"Well what would you like her last name to be?" Jay asks.

"Definitely Halstead," I smile at Jay.

"Are you sure about that?" He questions.

"Yes, I'm sure. Eventually I want that to be my last name too," I blush.

"Eventually it will happen," he laughed. "We're just doing things a little out of order."

"So Halstead, what's a good first name?" I ask.

"What about Isabella Rose?" He shrugs. "It's a pretty name,"

"We could call her Bella for short," I smile. "That's perfect."

All of a sudden the nurse comes back in.

"We just have to weight the baby and check a few things to make sure she is perfectly healthy. Did you two decide on a name?" She asks.

"Yes, we would like her name to be Isabella Rose Halstead," Jay says with a huge smile.

"That's beautiful," she smiles. "I'll make sure I go write that down."

The nurse leaves with little Isabella. This gives Jay and I some alone time.

"Are you nervous?" I ask him.

"A little," he chuckles. "But I know we'll make great parents to little Isabella." He gently kisses my lips.

"I really think it's time for a nap," I laugh.

"Baby if you want to sleep you can. You deserve it," He replies and kisses my forehead.

I motion for him to come lay with me. When he finally climbs into bed I closed my eyes and decided to take a small nap before they bring our little Isabella back.
