Jess' P.O.V:

I woke up to my alarm and smiled at the sight of Jay next to me. Thinking back on everything that happened last night I could not be happier. I decided to make pancakes before work. I made pancakes with whipped cream and strawberries on top. Then I made some coffee and placed it next to the pancakes. Isabella started crying and when I came back into the kitchen after changing her, Jay was sitting at the island with his pancakes and coffee.

"Babe this is amazing," he smiles.

"Really?" I question.

"Yes!" He exclaims. "Best pancakes ever."

I giggle and give him a small peck on the lips, "thank you Jay."

"Are we allowed to shower together?" Jay winks.

"Just let me put Isabella in her crib," I explain.

"I'll meet you in there," Jay smirks.

I put Isabella in her crib then join Jay in the shower. After we both quickly got dressed. Since it was winter I decided to throw on leggings and a sweater with boots and a scarf. We dropped Isabella off like we usually did and then we went to work. There was no case today so Voight let us out early. On our way home we got Isabella.

"Want to order food?" Jay asked.

"Yes please," I smile.

"Chinese?" He questions.

"That's fine," I reply.

I noticed that Isabella kept tugging on her ear.

"Jay, Isabella keeps tugging on her ear. I think she may have an ear infection," I sigh.

Jay grabs Isabella from me, "I think she's just tired. Let me put her to bed."

I nod, "thank you."

A little while later our food gets here. We eat it then climb into bed.

"Goodnight beautiful," Jay kisses my head.

"Goodnight Halstead," I smile.

We both then fall asleep. A few hours go by and I'm woken up by Isabella screaming. I jump out of bed and go into her room. I pick her up out of bed and start rocking her. This doesn't help so I make her a bottle and try to feed her. She doesn't want any part of the bottle. I see if she needs to be changed and she doesn't. She keeps crying and I keep rocking her hoping she falls back to sleep and doesn't wake Jay up.

Jay's P.O.V:

I hear screaming and look over and see Jess isn't in bed anymore. I start to panic and head for Isabella's room. I see Jess rocking Isabella and Bella is screaming.

"Bells please be quiet, daddy is sleeping," she sighs.

I come up behind her and wrap my arms around her waist, "I'm awake."

"I'm so sorry, I was trying to calm her down," she frowns.

"Maybe she's sick," I suggest.

"I should take her temperature," Jess hands Isabella to me.

Jess takes Isabella's temperature and then looks at me with a panic in her eyes.

"Babe what's wrong?" I ask.

"Her temperature is 100.2" Jess frowns.

"Can we give her medicine?" I question.

"I-I don't know," She cries.

"Why don't we just take her to the hospital?" I ask.

"That's a good idea," She tries to smile.

Jess grabs Isabella's diaper bag and changes into leggings and one of my sweatshirts. I stay in my pajama pants because honestly I don't want to put Isabella down. I also made some coffee quick for the two of us. It was going to be a long night. When we finally get to Chicago Med we spot Natalie in the lobby.

"Nat can you help us?" Jess begs her.

"What's wrong? She asks.

"Isabella has a fever and she keeps pulling at her ear and we don't know what to do," She cries.

I pull Jess towards me for a small hug, "Anyway you can help us?"

"I was just about to leave but because you are family I'll help," She smiles.

After a few hours and some small tests later Natalie came into our room with an explanation.

"Looks like Bella has a double ear infection and a cold. You are allowed to give her children's motrin every 6 hours," Natalie explains.

"That's safe for her?" Jess questions.

"I wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't safe," She smiled.

"Thanks Nat, we really appreciate you doing this," I say.

"Now go home and get sleep all of you," She recommends.

"Will do. Thanks again Nat," I reply.

The ride home is silent. I put my hand on Jess' thigh while I drive.

"It isn't your fault," I remind her. "Kids get sick a lot."

"I just feel like I could have protected her," She frowns.

"We can't protect her from every germ as much as we do try," I chuckle.

When we get home we place Isabella in the swing in the living room. We both lay down on the couch and turn the TV on and watch reruns of friends. Slowly both of our eyes drift to sleep.

Adam's P.O.V:

I called Jess and Jay 10 times each. They aren't picking up. We are suppose to be on a case and it's 9AM. I called Cara to see if she has heard from either one of them this morning and she hasn't either. I started panicking because I wasn't sure what happened to them or if they were okay.

"Voight," Hank answers his phone.

"I haven't heard from Jess and Jay in over 24 hours," I explain.

"The team and I will meet you at their apartment in 10 minutes," He replies.

"Thanks Boss," I hang up and head over to their apartment.
