Chapter 21

A Few Months Later..

Jess' P.O.V:

I've been off work for about two weeks now and I can never figure out what to do with my life. Lately the district has been so busy. Jay is in there everyday all day. Which stinks because we really are trying to spend as much time as we can before this baby arrives. My due date is a week from now but she could be early or late. I start to eat breakfast when all of a sudden my phone rings.

"Ruzek," I say.

"Hey girl, feel like going shopping?" Cara asks.

"Hell yes," I giggle. "I need to leave this apartment."

"Is wedding shopping fine?" She questions.

"Oh my god yes! I would love to go," I say excitedly.

"I'll pick you up in an hour," She responds.

I take a shower then throw on leggings and one of Jay's shirts with a comfy pair of sneakers. I then pull out my phone to text Jay.

Going out dress shopping with Cara :) Should be home for dinner. Love you xoxo

All of a sudden there is a knock on the door. I look through the peep hole and it's Cara. I open the door to let her in.

"Hey girl you're here early," I laugh.

"I thought we could grab some lunch first at the diner," She suggested.

"That sounds perfect," I smile. "Please tell me you're going to drive."

"Of course I will," She laughs. "Can you even see your feet?"

I laugh, "Nope, haven't been able to for about a month."

We head out to the diner right by the district. We order the same things we always do. After lunch we decide to stop by the district to say hello and to bring the boys some lunch. When we walk into the district we first go over to Platt.

"Hey Trudy, is Intelligence busy today?" I ask.

"No they are just doing paper work," She replies. "You look huge."

"I am due in a week," I laugh.

"Is Halstead freaking out?" She asks.

"He's a little nervous that he won't be a good dad but I keep telling him he's going to be amazing," I respond.

"He will be fine. Is Adam excited?" She questions.

"Yeah he's very excited," Cara replies. "As usual he's always worried about them too."

"Sounds about right," Trudy says. "Go on up you two."

We walk up into the bullpen to see everyone sitting at their desks. I walk over to Jay and give him a kiss on the cheek.

"Hey handsome, I brought you some lunch," I smile.

"Well thank you," He smiles back.

"Hey Ruzek, how are you feeling?" Voight asks.

"I'm ready to pop," I laugh.

"You look like it too," Kevin jokes.

"One more week then you guys will be able to meet her," I say excitedly.

"Where are you guys going?" Jay questioned.

"Dress shopping. Don't you want to come?" I joke.

"No I'll just here and I'll see you at home later," He replies.

I give him a kiss on the lip, say goodbye to everyone and we head over to the first dress shop. Cara doesn't find anything she likes in any of the first three dress shops. Finally we get to the fourth shop.

"This is the last stop I promise," Cara laughs.

"Thank god. My feet are killing me," I reply.

We walk into the shop and Cara runs right over to one dress with a huge smile on her face.

"I think this is it," She grins. "And it's in my size."

"Try it on!" I squeal.

Cara rushes over to the dressing room and put's it on. When she comes out of the dressing room I have tears in my eyes.

"You look so beautiful," I wipe away a tear.

I call one of the workers over.

"She's going to take this dress," I say.

"She looks absolutely gorgeous in it," The lady smiles.

"Um Cara," I say as a liquid drips down my legs.

"What's wrong?" She asks confused.

"Call Jay, my water just broke," I say in a panic.
