Jess' P.O.V.

Adam and I talked a lot about if I should take the job or not. There was a knock on the door and Adam got up to answer it. I look over and Jay is standing there with flowers. I walk to him and give him a kiss, before taking the flowers. Jay and Adam talked for a few minutes then we went to Jay's car and headed for the restaurant. They gave us a nice table in the back for two people. While we waited for our entrees I decided this was a good time to tell Jay.

"So Jay I have some news," I smile.

"Does it have anything to do with when we get home?" He smirks.

"No, stop thinking dirty." I giggle. "Voight asked me to join Intelligence."

"As a photographer?" He questions.

"Nope," I say quietly. "As a police officer."

"How could you do that? Unless you took the police test." He says confused.

"I took it at the same time as Adam. But no one wanted me because they said they had too many female cops. Now Voight wants me and I'm not sure what to do." I respond.

Jay gave me his pros and cons list of why I should or shouldn't accept it. Then not too long after we got our food. After dinner we went back to my apartment. I opened the door to see Adam and Cara sleeping on the couch with the Hawks game replay going. Jay and I decide to go into my room. We both get into our pajamas and go to sleep.

The Next Day...

I woke up and Jay wasn't next to me anymore. I threw on his shirt and went out into the living room. He was sitting at the island drinking coffee. I decided to sneak up on him. I ran up behind him and yelled "BOO." He ended up spilling coffe everywhere.

"Did you need to do that?" He asks kind of annoyed.

"I'm sorry," I frown.

"It's fine," He kisses my nose. "Come on we have to get ready for work."

We both showered and got ready to go to the district. Of course Adam already left because he wanted to be there really early. I decided to ride with Jay. When we got to the district I said hi to Platt like I usually do and I followed Jay up to Intelligence. Adam was at his desk laughing with Kevin. It's nice to see Adam smile. I smile to myself as I walk to Hank's office.

"Sarge?" I say.

"Come in Jess." He smiles. "Have you made a decision?"

I smile, "I would love to accept you offer."

"I was hoping you would say that." He got up and gave me a hug.

We both walked out of the office.

"Hey guys, can I have your attention quick," Hank says as everyone looks at us. "Some of you may know I offered little Ruzek a spot here. Well, I would like you all to give her a warm welcome."

"Thank you Hank," I smile and hug him.

I look over at Jay and Adam who are exchanging looks of concern.

Jay's P.O.V.

I honestly thought Jess would decline the job because she's pregnant. This is too dangerous and I tried to tell her that yesterday. She just thought I was saying girls aren't as good as boys. I look at Adam and he has the same look on his face as me. We watch as Kevin gives her a huge hug. Then Burgess, Antonio, Al and Upton.

"I can't believe she said yes," I whisper to Adam.

"Now we really have to look out for her," He sighs.

"No one knows she pregnant right?" I ask him.

"Not that I know of," He replies.

Jess walks over to Adam and I. "Are you guys just going to stair at me or be happy for me?"

"We are happy," I give a soft smile.

Adam sighs, "We're just worried."

"Before you guys ask you two are the only ones who know about the baby. I didn't tell Hank yet," She informs us.

"Just got a call about a bank robbery. Let's go. Everyone suit up," Hank yells.

We all go downstairs and start to put on our vests and get our guns if we don't have them. Adam and I help Jess put on her gear because we see her having trouble.

"Ruzek with Al, Atwater with me, Halstead and Upton, then Burgess, Dawson and little Ruzek," Hank orders.

Jess' P.O.V.

I'm in the car with Kim and Antonio. I'm nervous about having to actually shoot this gun at someone. Kim and Antonio reassure me everything will be ok. All the police cars surround the building. Apparently they're holding hostages. Jay and Al are on top of a building across the street trying to shoot the guys.

"Sarge let me go in and sneak out the hostages," Adam suggests.

"No Ruzek! Never going to happen," Voight shouts.

"Why haven't we tried talking to them yet?" I question.

"Would you like to do it?" Hank asks.

"I don't think that's a good idea," I say.

All of a sudden we hear gunshots. None of the CPD fired anything. There were no shots fired from inside. All of a sudden everyones radios go on.

"Shots fired at the police. Officer down," Al says through radio.

I grab my radio and talk back. "How bad Al?"

"He needs an Ambo as soon as possible. He got shot in the collarbone. Loosing a lot of blood as we speak." Al replies.

Adam and Kevin go to the building where Jay is to bring him down to the ambulance. Once the ambulance they put Jay inside. Luckily Gabby is in the ambulance.

Jay's P.O.V.

I felt the bullet pierce my skin. Just missed the vest of course. I was going in and out of consciousness. I can tell I'm on a stretcher going in an ambulance and I can see Jess crying. I reach out and grab her hand.

"I love you and our baby," I whisper before blacking out.
