Chapter 16

A Few Weeks Later:

Jess' P.O.V:

I woke up and rolled over to see a sleeping Jay. These past few weeks have been rough on him. When I got to work he gets sad and won't let me leave. Since the accident I've been sleeping at his place. I'm also starting to show and no one at work knows. Today Jay has a doctor's appointment to see if everything healed correctly. If it did, he should be allowed to return to his desk. I look over at the clock and realize it's 9am. I shake Jay to wake him up.

"Wake up sleepy head," I smile. "Time to try and get that cast off."

"Finally," He yells.

We both get up and shower. I decide to drive Jay's truck to the appointment. He wasn't very happy about that but he can't drive yet technically. When we get to Chicago Med, Will is already waiting for us in the lobby. They take Jay back and do some X-Ray's then lead us into a room and put the X-Ray's on the screen.

"It looks like you are all healed," Will smiles. "You can finally go back to work. But you have to do desk duty for two weeks and no heavy lifting."

"Thank god I can finally go back to work," Jay smiles and kisses me. "I get to drive to the district."

I roll my eyes, "Fine. But only because I've been driving you around for like six weeks."

We thanked Will and left. Jay was so happy he could finally use his arm again.

"Back to the district? Or home to celebrate?" He smirked.

"We have to get back to work. We can celebrate later babe," I giggled.

"Soon we won't be able to have sex," His eyes widened.

"You'll be fine," I rolled my eyes.

Finally we pulled up to the district. We decided that today was the day that we were going to tell Hank about the baby. Only because I'm starting to show and he's going to know. Jay shuts off the car but doesn't get out.

"What's wrong?" I question.

"There's something I've been meaning to ask you. Since you've been sleeping in my apartment the past few weeks I really want to live together. I was thinking my place since I have an extra room for the baby. So what do you think?" He asks and smiles.

I tear up, "I would love to live with you."

We kiss then walk inside the district together. I can't help but smile and now that Voight approved out relationship it doesn't matter what we do. Of course Trudy notices we are very happy.

"What's going on? Why are you two so smiley?" She questions.

"Jay asked me to move in," I keep smiling.

"Well congrats you two, that's a big step." She says.

Next we head upstairs to Intelligence. Everyone greets Jay and says they are happy he is better. Next we go straight to Voight's office. I knock on his door and he looks up.

"Come on in," He says and motions for Jay to shut the door. "What do you kids need."

"Well Sarge, we have some news and we want to tell you. You'd be the first one to know besides Adam of course." Jay replies.

"Get on with it Halstead," Hank chuckles.

"Jess is five months pregnant," Jay blurts out.

"We wanted you to know incase you don't want me out in the field anymore," I explain.

"That choice is up to the two of you. Halstead you and Adam will be her partners from now on though. You can stay out in the field until you really start to show," Hank replies.

"Thank you Hank," I smile and hug him.

"When are planning on telling everyone?" He asks.

"Well tomorrow is our appointment to find out if it is a boy or girl so tomorrow if that's fine with you," I say.

"That is perfectly fine. Unless a case hit off," He responds. "But Congratulations you two, I am happy for the both of you." He smiles.

After our chat with Hank we both leave his office and head to our desks. I decide to go to the break room instead and grab some coffee. Decaf of course. As I'm making it I see someone walking up behind me. It's Adam.

"You seem happy this morning," He chuckles.

"Well I do have some good news," I smile.

"What would that be?" He questions.

"Jay asked me to move in with him," I blush.

He gives me a big hug, "Congrats sis. I'm happy for you two."

"Thank you," I smile. "I'm glad you are finally fine with it."

"Are you even allowed to drink coffee?" He asks.

"Only decaf," I giggle.

"You don't need coffee and neither does the little one," He rolls his eyes.

"Shush and go back to work," I smile and walk back to my desk.

Voight walks out of his office with his hands in his pockets.

"No case today. You are all free to go home," He says.

We all get up and leave. Jay comes back to my apartment and we start packing up my stuff when Cara walks in.

"What's going on?" Cara questioned.

"I'm moving into Jay's apartment," I replied.

She hugged me and said, "That's awesome! I'm happy for you two."

After we packed up a few more boxes Jay and I decided it was time for bed. I grabbed one of his older T-shirts because I'm starting to not be able to wear my pajamas anymore. We climbed into bed and drifted off to sleep.
