A Jay Halstead Love Story

Chapter 2

Adam's P.O.V.

I came home late last night so I decided I wanted to check on Jess in the morning. I open her door and start talking to her.

"Hey Jess sorry I missed you last night," I started rambling. Then I looked up from the floor. "JAY!" I yelled.

Jay looks at me shocked, "Hey Adam."

"I suggested you leave. Now." I say trying not to wake up Jess.

Jess rolls over and opens her eyes, "What's going on in here?"

"You tell me." I roll my eyes.

"I was just leaving," Jay says trying to run past me.

I grab him by the arm, "We aren't done talking about this. I'll see you at the district."

"I guess I owe you an explanation," Jess says softly.

Jess' P.O.V.

"You think so?" Adam yells. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to yell."

"Well for starters you didn't pick me up from the airport Jay did. So we grabbed dinner then went to Molly's and I didn't want to stay alone all night so he offered to stay. He wanted to sleep on the couch but I had a nightmare so I asked him to sleep with me. Nothing happened." I lied.

"Alright, I'm sorry sis," He said apologetically. "You want to go to the diner for lunch today? If something doesn't pop off?"

"I would love that." I smiled at him. "Now go before you're late to work."

Adam kissed my head and then left. I rolled over to go back to sleep but I couldn't stop thinking about last night with Jay. Shit Jay! I have to text him my lie before Adam asks him about last night.

Hey Jay!! So I lied to Adam and said that I had a nightmare last night and that's why you slept in my bed. I also told him about Molly's but not about that guy and your fight. Just wanted you to be in on my lie so Adam doesn't kill us :)

He replies back almost immediately

I'll lie too then ;) I had a great time last night, hoping to do it again soon!

I smiled to myself. Maybe I am falling for Jay Halstead after all these years. I finally decided to get out of bed and shower. After I watched a little TV and decided I'll just meet Adam at the district. I missed seeing everyone especially Hank. Lately he's been treating me more like a daughter. I got in my car and drove to the district. The first one to greet me is of course Trudy Platt.

"Hey Sarge," I smile.

"Ruzek! I haven't seen you in weeks," She replies. "What have you been up to?"

"New York fashion week," I say. "It was such a fun time. Is intelligence busy?"

"Nope, would you like me to buzz you up?" She asks.

"Yes please," I smiled. "Thank you."

I walked over to the gate and made my way up the stairs. The first person I make eye contact with is Kim Burgess. After she broke thing off with Adam he hasn't really been the same. Kim and I were best friends before everything so it's hard to not be friends now. We aren't as close but we are still good friends even after everything.

"Jess!" She yells and runs towards me.

"How have you been?" I smile.

"Pretty good," She smiles. "Glad to see you're back."

"Little Ruzek!" Kevin yells across the room.

"Hey Kev," I wave.

Kevin hugs me and picks me up, then spins me around and puts me down. Then he kisses me forehead.

"I missed you kid," He laughs. "Adam just went to the bathroom, but I think Voight is in the office if you want to see him."

I notice a blonde at Erin's desk that I've never seen before. Jay also isn't at his desk. That can't be good. I knock on Hank's door. He looks up and instantly smiles. He gives me a hug.

"You've been gone a while, how was New York?" He asked.

"It was wonderful!" I exclaim. "But I am happy to be home."

"Our photographer is off this week if you want to fill in," He smiles.

"I would love to. When do I start?" I ask.

"Tomorrow would be great." He replies.

"Well I will see you tomorrow then," He said.

I walk out of the office and see Jay getting coffee. I walk over to him not noticing me. I give him a big hug from behind. He turns around and smiles at me.

"Adam is going to kill us," His voice shaky.

"What did he say?" I ask confused.

"He just said we better not be fooling around because he thinks I'm going to hurt you." He replied. "Did he notice the bruise yet?" He pointed to my arm.

I shrugged, "I hope not, I haven't really seen him today yet."

Adam walks into the room we're in.

"Hey you ready to leave?" Adam asks.

"Sure," I say. I give Jay a quick hug and whisper, "Later you better tell me who that girl is."

Adam and I leave the district together and drive over to the diner in Adams car. When we get there we go sit in a booth near a window. I cross my arms hoping to hide my bruise from Adam. He gives me a funny look.

"Why are you mad?" He asks confused.

"I'm not mad?" I raise my eyebrow.

"Why do you have a bruise on your arm?" He questions.

" I bumped into the counter." I shrugged.

"It looks like a hand," he says angrily. That wasn't from Jay right?"

"No!" I shout. "Jay would never lay a finger on me. It was some guy at Molly's. I'm fine though Jay handled it."

"How about tonight me and you have a brother sister night tonight and watch transformers and eat junk food?" He smiles.

"Sounds like a great time," I smile back. "Oh and Voight asked me to work with you guy this week."

"Just be careful please," He begs.

"Don't worry I will." I say.

After lunch he takes me back to the district so I can get my car. When I get back to the apartment I take a nap waiting for Adam. When he gets home we order pizza and watch movies until we decide it's time to go to sleep.
