Chapter 18

Jess' P.O.V:

I chased after Adam as he left the district.

"Hey!" I called out. No response. "Adam! I'm talking to you."

He turned around to face me, "How could you risk your life and the babies?"

"Adam I have to work," I reply.

"You don't have to go out into the field with us though," He says annoyed.

"I'm not going to go when you guys have to suit up. Just going when there is a murder," I explain.

"I still can't believe Jay would let you do that," He get's in his car and leaves.

I walk back into the district and upstairs thinking about everything he said to me. Am I really making a stupid mistake? Should I be staying behind a desk? As I walk upstairs Jay runs over to me.

"Baby, are you okay?" He asks.

"I'm fine. Just upset Adam acted the way he did," I sigh. "Am I making the wrong decision?"

"You are just doing your job. We all risk our lives everyday. He's just worried about you more because you're his sister and you're pregnant," Jay explains.

He pulls me in for a hug and kisses the top of my head. We stay hugging for a little when we hear someone clear their throat. I look up and Kev is standing next to me.

"Congratulations little homie," He says and hugs me. "Adam will come around. You just have to give him time."

"Thanks Kev," I smile softly. "I also have one more announcement."

Everyone turns and looks at me a little confused, including Jay. I grab his hand.

"I'm moving in with Jay," I smile. "If you could all help me move next weekend that would be great."

"Of course we will," Hanks smiles and hugs me. "You guys are family. Family helps family."

"Thank you Hank," I smile.

"You can all have the rest of the day off," Hank says. "Go to Molly's and celebrate."

"Only if you come," Jay replies.

"I wouldn't miss it," Hank says.

"Well meet you guys in 1 hour," Jay smiles as we leave.

When we get in the car I pull out my phone to text Cara and Adam.

Meet us and the rest of the team at Molly's in an hour. Hope to see you both there! :)

We both get back to Jay's place and I change into a tight dress. I look in the mirror and you can see a little bump starting to form. I smile looking at the bump. Jay comes over and gets down on his knees and kisses the bump.

"Your daddy can't wait to meet you," He says to the bump.

I giggle, "Come on we don't want to be late."

We leave the apartment and walk to Jay's car. He helps me into the car then gets in on his side. We make our way to Molly's and park almost directly in front of it. When we walk in the door it doesn't look like anyone is here. Then everyone jumps out and yells surprise. There are pink balloons everywhere and pink streamers. Kevin and Burgess come up to us first.

"Hope you guys like he surprise," Burgess smiles.

"We do. Thank you guys so much," I say.

"It actually wasn't all us," Kevin says. "It was actually Adam's idea. Him and Cara did the most work."

I look around the room for Adam, when I finally spot him I run over to him. I can hear Jay behind me yelling that I shouldn't be running. I hug Adam so hard.

"Thank you, for all of this," I smile.

"You deserve it. It's also an I'm sorry I was a dick," He chuckles.

"Well thank you. And thank you Cara for helping," I smile and hug her.

"You're my best friend how could I not help," She says as she grabs my hands. "That's what friends are for."

All night we danced and drank. Well I drank water and soda but Jay enjoyed taking shots and having beers with the boys. It was nice to see everyone happy. Cara and I start talking when I notice she has a ring on her finger.

"Are you two engaged?" I asked surprised.

"I didn't want to ruin your night," She sighed. "But yes we are."

"That's fantastic! Congratulations!" I say. "Jay! Adam! Come here."

"What's up?" Jay says slurring.

"They're engaged!" I hold up Cara's hand.

Cara's P.O.V:

"Congrats man!" Jay bro hugs him. "Fourth times the charm right?"

"Fourth?" I questions.

"Yeah babe, you knew that right?" Adam asks.

Fourth? I think to myself. I know Jess said before she came to New York Adam had recently gotten out of a relationship and they were engaged. I didn't know there were two more before that though.

"No I didn't," i rolls her eyes. "I'm taking a cab home." 

I walk out of Molly's with tears in my eyes.
