Jess' P.O.V:

I felt like I was short of breath. I could feel the tears burning in my eyes. I was having a panic attack. I used to get these a lot when I was younger. I felt like I couldn't breathe. The air was just leaving my lungs and never returning. I was gasping for air when I felt a familiar pair of lips on mine. I closed my eyes until they pulled away.

"Are you okay?" Jay asked.

"No, he took her," I cried.

He pulled me in for a hug, "This is my fault, I shouldn't have left you."

"Sorry to interrupt but did he want anything in exchange for your daughter?" Hank asked.

"Yeah," I sniffled. "He wants $100K."

Hanks eyes widen, "By when?"

"10PM," I sigh.

"I'll get the money. The rest of you go back to the district and find out where he took her," Hank says.

I look at Jay, "I don't want to leave."

"Jess it's not safe here," He sighs.

I go over to Isabella's swing and grab her blanket, "We can go now."

I drove back to the district with Jay and Hailey. Jay sat in the back with me and I laid on him and held his hand the whole time. When we got into the district I didn't speak to anyone. I went right upstairs to my desk to try and find my baby. After a few hours of looking we still couldn't find them. I got so frustrated I threw all my papers off my desk and went into the break room. I sat at the table and started crying. Then I heard a knock at the door and I looked up to see Jay.

"Go away," I say.

"This isn't your fault you know," he replies.

"Your right it's both our faults," I say.

"It's no ones fault," he tries to remind me.

"Yes it is! He took our daughter because we're cops!" I shout. "Just leave me alone!"

After that Jay walks out. Now I feel guilty for yelling at him. I sigh as I watch him at his desk. Then Adam walks in.

"Hey sis," he smiles softly.

I get up and give him a hug, "I miss her."

"I miss her too. But yelling at your fiancé isn't going to help get her back. You just have to stay calm," he reminds me.

"I think I found them!" Jay shouts.

I run over to him and try and look to see what he's looking at.

"Facial recognition just caught him walking into an abandoned warehouse on orange street two minutes ago," he says.

"Everyone suit up," Hank replies. "Jess can we talk quick."

"Sure, what's up Hank," I say.

"Are you going to be okay? Or should I be sitting you out?" He questions.

"Voight I will be fine. You of all people should know I don't let things get in the way of me doing my job," I remind him.

"Just wanted to make sure," he smiles. "Let's get our girl."

Jay helps me put my vest on and makes sure it's tight. He gives me an awkward smile right before walking away. I grab his arm to make sure he doesn't.

"I'm sorry Jay. I'm just so upset by the fact that he took her that I couldn't see clearly that you are just trying to help," I sigh.

"Baby don't worry about it. I forgive you. Now let's go get our baby," he kisses me passionately.

I hop in the car with Adam and Kevin. For the most part the ride was silent. When we finally got to the warehouse everyone went in guns drawn. I went in the back with Kevin and Adam while Jay and Hailey went in the front. Al and Hank took one of the side entrances while Burgess and Dawson took the other side. We had this place covered. I saw my baby. She was in a crib in the middle of the building.

"Cover me," I shout at Kevin and Adam.

I run over to where my baby is and I grab her and hold her right. I start crying a little. All of a sudden I hear a gunshot and I feel this pain in my shoulder. I fall to the ground not letting go of my baby. Then I hear a few more gunshots. Then silence.

Jay's P.O.V:

I hear gunshots and run over to where I hear them coming from.

"Officer down! Roll an ambo to 48 Orange Street," I hear Adam say over the radio.

My heart starts racing and I run as fast as my feet will take me. I see her body on the floor looking lifeless.

"No!" I shout.

"Jay calm down," Adam says.

"Shouldn't you have been covering her," I snap at Adam.

"Jay we were covering her. He came out of nowhere," Kevin explains.

We hear the ambulance pull in. Gabby and Brett come in with a stretcher. They put Jess on it and hand me our baby.

"Can we ride with her?" I ask.

"Of course," Gabby gives a soft smile.

Jess' P.O.V:

I slowly open my eyes. Very confused about what happened. I notice I'm at Med. I also realize my baby isn't in my arms. I start to panic when I feel someone squeeze my hand.

"Hey hey she's okay," Jay smiles.

I feel a shooting pain in my shoulder and cry a little, "what happened?"

"You got shot in your shoulder. You should be able to make a full recovery though," Jay chuckles.

"Where's my baby," I frown.

"She had to go get checked out. Adam went with her though," he said.

"I'm so sorry," I cry. "It was out of instinct to go grab her."

"Nothing happened to her babe so don't worry about it. You did the right thing," he reminds me.

He stand up and gives me a small hug and kisses my forehead. Just then Adam walks in with Isabella in his arms.

"Who wants to see Mommy?" He says in a baby voice.

"Give her to me," I smile.

"Jess if it hurts you have to give her back," Jay says.

Adam hands her to me. Holding her causes me a little pain and I flinch. Jay grabs Isabella from me and gives me a look.

"I know this hurts you," he says.

"But I just wanna hold her," I frown.

We have people coming and going all day. Finally at the end of the day Will said Jay and Isabella could stay. I felt more comfortable with them sitting next to me. After Will gave me my pain meds I felt myself slowly drifting off to sleep.
