A Jay Halstead Love Story

Chapter 24

Jay's P.O.V:

I walked out of the hospital with my girls. Carrying Isabella in my left hand and holding Jess' with my right. I carefully place Isabella in the car, noticing that she is sleeping. The ride home was silent, but a comfortable silence. When we got home I grabbed Isabella's car seat.

"I got the baby, just open the door for me," I laugh knowing everyone is waiting to welcome us home.

"Are you sure?" Jess questioned. "I can hold her."

I kissed Jess' forehead, "It's the least I can do for giving me the perfect child."

We walked up to the apartment and Jess got the key out. She smiled and kissed me before opening the door. Still not knowing that I invited over the intelligence unit, Will, and a few other people.

"Surprise!" Everyone yells as the door opens.

Jess' P.O.V:

As I open the door I see a lot of people and they yell surprise. I had tears forming in my eyes.

"Welcome back home sis, and my little niece," Adam hugs me.

"I can't believe you guys did this," I smile.

"It was all Jay's idea," He replies.

I walk over to Jay and give him a huge kiss.

"Thank you for this party," I say.

He tries to hand me a glass of champagne, "To us."

I take it from him but don't drink it.

"What's wrong?" He asks.

"I can't drink while breast feeding," I sigh.

"Aw Man, I didn't know that," He pouts.

We decide to take Isabella out of her car seat and let people hold her. I watched over her like a hawk but I knew everyone would be careful with her. When Adam was holding her he never wanted to let her go. He kept talking to her and kept trying to make her laugh. When she started crying you could see the look of panic on his face. I went over to him and took Isabella. I reassured him that she was probably just hungry or needed to be changed. I took her into our bedroom to see if she need to be fed. After a little while I heard a knock at the door and someone entered. It was Jay.

I smiled at him, "What do you need?"

"Just wanted to see what happened to m favorite girls," He laughed.

"She got hungry," I replied.

"Are you guys coming back out soon?" He asked. "I think people are ready to leave so we could have some peace and quiet."

"We will be right out," I kiss him. "I love you Halstead."

"And I love you little Ruzek. Hopefully eventually Halstead," He laughs.

We both went back into the living room and started saying goodbye to our friends until finally all that was left was Adam and Cara.

"She is just the cutest," Cara smiled at Isabella.

"Can I hold Bella?" Adam asked.

"You nicknamed her already?" Jay laughed.

"Yeah sorry," Adam shrugged.

Cara handed Bella to Adam. He was so happy to be holding her. All he did was smile around her. After a little while Cara and Adam said their goodbyes leave Jay, Isabella and I finally alone.

"Are you hungry sweetie?" Jay asked.

"Jay she just ate," I laughed.

"No babe, I was talking to you," Jay replied.

"Oh," I laughed. "Can we order pizza? I'm starving."

"Anything for you," he smiled.

Finally after dinner we decided everyone should go to sleep. Before bed we made sure Isabella was changed and fed. I turned on the monitor and went to our room. I climbed into bed next to Jay.

"Goodnight baby, I love you," he mumbled.

"Goodnight Jay, I love you more," I say as I shut my eyes.

A Few Weeks Later...

Everything has been going pretty smoothly these past few weeks. We all finally got into our routines, but sadly today Jay goes back to work.

"Do you have to go back today?" I say holding a crying Isabella.

"Yes Jess, one of us has to work," he laughs.

"But Voight will give you more time if you need," I reply.

"You don't actually need me though," he says. "Voight really needs me back today."

"Fine, just be careful," I kisss his lips.

"I love you, and I'll meet you for lunch just stop by the district," he smiles and kisses my forehead.

I watch him walk out the door and I let a tear fall down my face. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous. I knew I could do it though. After changing and feeding Isabella she decided to take a short nap. In that time I was able to quick pump some more milk into containers so I could feed her in public and I also was able to shower. When it was finally time to go I put Isabella in her little fuzzy suit since it was starting to become winter and I threw a blanket on her. I put her in the car then got in myself. Finally I drove down to the district to meet Jay. When I finally park and walk in I am greeted by a very happy Platt.

"Hey Sargent," I smile.

"Look how big she's getting already," she replies.

"Is Jay upstairs?" I ask.

"No but the team should be back soon if you want head on up," she says.

I take Isabella and head on upstairs. I sit at my desk and wait for them to come back. After about 20 mins I hear them all coming upstairs. Everyone of them looks at me when they get up and they all have the same blank expression. Then I finally see Hank and Adam. They both look at me with pain in their eyes and right there I know something is wrong.

"What happened to Jay," I blurt out.

Adam comes over and grabs my hand, "Sis, he's been taken."
