A Week Later...

Jess' P.O.V.

I woke up and noticed Jay was still sleeping. It's been a week since Adam and my fight. We have yet to speak. I've been sleeping in Jay's apartment. I only go back to my place for clothes and I only go there when Adam isn't around. Cara texted me yesterday and said that she had big news and wanted to meet up for lunch so of course I agreed. I threw on one of Jay's Chicago PD shirts and decided to make breakfast. As I'm finishing up I feel arms wrap around my waist. At first I jump because it startles me.

"Hey baby it's just me," Jay says calmly.

"I'm sorry," I sniffle.

"Don't cry," He frowns. "You have nothing to worry about."

After we eat breakfast Jay has to start getting ready for work. I climb back into the bed and just watch as he runs around the room to grab his clothes before showering.

"Are you sure you don't want to join me?" He winks.

"Well-" I get cut off by my phone ringing.

"Hello?" I answer.

"Jess its Voight, I need to discuss some things with you. Can you please come down to the station today?" He asks.

"Sure Sarge, what time?" I question.

"Usual time," He replies. "See you soon."

I hang up and look at the time. Then I look at Jay, who has a very confused look on his face. I grab some clothes and head into the shower with him close behind.

An Hour Later...

We finally get to the district but I'm scared to go inside. I'm not sure what Voight wanted to talk about but it sounded urgent. I also don't want to see my brother. On top of everything no one knows Jay and I are together or even that we're expecting. Except Adam and Kevin knows we're together but still doesn't know about the baby. I take a deep breath and walk in after Jay. I see Platt at the desk so I go over and talk to her while Jay goes upstairs.

"Hey Sarge," I smile.

"Hey Ruzek, are you feeling better?" She asks.

"Shoulder is still sore and sometimes it still hurts to breathe but other then that I'm fine." I chuckle.

"I didn't think you were coming back today." She responded.

"I wasn't suppose to but Voight told me to come in," I explained.

"One thing before you head up there," She says.

"What's that Sarge?" I question.

"What's going on with you and Halstead?" She asks.

"What are you talking about?" I say, trying to remain calm.

"I can tell there is something going on by the way he looks at you," She smiles. "It's nice to finally see one of you Ruzek's happy."

"What do you mean?" I question. "What's wrong with Adam?"

"Every since the night Intelligence rescued you Adam hasn't been the same. Voight won't let him leave the desk he's so unfocused." She explained.

"Thanks for the heads up," I say. "I should get to Voight."

I slowly made my way up the stairs into Intelligence. I make eye contact with Jay but I don't want it to be so obvious. I casually say hi to everyone before making my way into Voight's office. Adam wouldn't even look in my direction. I sigh then I knock on Voight's door and he tells me to come in and close it.

"How are you doing?" He asks. "Seriously how are you, not the fake stuff you've been telling every one."

"Shoulder is still sore but I can do things on my own and my ribs still hurt to breathe." I explain.

"I called you in here for a few thing," He says. "First thing I wanted to say was we do have an open photography position if you want it."

" I would be honored to work with you guys all the time. Yes." I say excitedly.

"Next thing, Adam informed me that he is the way he is this past week because you two aren't currently on speaking terms. Is that correct?" He asks.

"It is. But I want to fix that today. I want Adam back out in the field and I need my brother back," I reply.

"I'm glad we are on the same page so far," He says. "Last but not least I spoke to Adam and he said before you became a photographer you took the police exam. Is that correct?"

"Yes I did, but no one wanted me because I was a female so I changed majors. Why are you bringing this up?" I ask him confused.

"I have an open spot in intelligence and I would be honored if you would take it." He explains.
