The Next Day:

Jay's P.O.V:

I woke up to the sound of our alarm clock ringing. I hit snooze. It was 8AM, who would be willing to get up this early. Then I feel Jess shake me so I roll over.

"Are you okay?" I question.

"I'm fine, I just really want to get ready so we can go to this appointment," She smiles. "I just finally want to tell our friends."

I kiss her forehead, "I'm excited too."

We both take showers and eat something quick before heading out. When we finally pull up to Chicago Med I can see Jess started to get nervous. I put my hand on hers and run my thumb over it. We finally go into Med and see Will standing there.

"What are you two doing here?" He asks.

"Jess has an appointment to find out the gender," I smile.

"Good luck you two. Hoping for a nephew. I'd be happy with a niece thought too," He chuckles and walks away.

We find out that the baby is very healthy. Thank god. The doctor also put the gender in an envelope. We took the envelope to the bakery so they could make cupcakes accordingly. While we waited for the bakery we decided to go to the diner for breakfast. Most of the time Jess doesn't have morning sickness but right now was not one of those times. She smelled the eggs and ran straight for the bathroom. I went to check on her and she was fine. When we got a call that the cupcakes were ready we paid for our food and picked up the cupcakes. Then we went to the district.

"What do you have there?" Trudy questioned.

"Come upstairs and you'll find out," I respond.

Trudy follows us up into the bullpen. When we get there everyone's eyes are on us.

"What's in the box?" Kevin asks almost immediately.

"Can we speak first," Jess laughs.

"Sorry sorry I got excited," He chuckles.

"Well we have some news for you guys, but of course we had to tell Hank first," I explain.

"I'm pregnant with Jay's baby," Jess looks up and me and smiles.

Everyone is clapping and cheering and congratulating us.

"But what is in the box?" Kevin still questions.

"We just found out the gender today and we wanted all of you to share with us because we don't know either," Jess explained.

I set the box down on my desk and everyone gathered around. Everyone counted to three and Jess and I opened the box together. The cupcakes were pink.

"We're having a girl!" I shouted. "Oh my god we're having a girl."

I picked Jess up and spun her around. I then kissed her passionately. Then I noticed she was crying.

"What's wrong?" I panicked.

"I'm just so happy!" She cried.

As everyone was eating their cupcakes Jess, Burgess, Upton and Platt were standing together away from the boys. They were probably talking about girl stuff. I couldn't stop looking at Jess and how happy she is. Every time she smiles I can't help but smile.

Adam hugs me, "I'm happy to have a niece. I don't think we need another Halstead around. No offense."

I laughed, "None taken. I didn't want another me either."

"Do you have any names picked out yet?" Burgess asks us.

I look over at Jess and shrug, "We haven't talked about that yet."

"I have something to say," Voight says. "Now that you all know Jess is pregnant I expect you everyone especially now more then ever to have each other's back. No one should be getting hurt."

"Sarge, you're letting her go out there still?" Adam asks concerned.

"Until she has a big belly I said she is still allowed out in the field," Hank replies.

"That's ridiculous," Adam rolls his eyes.

"Adam stop. It's my decision too" Jess argues.

"Well it's stupid," He barks.

"Adam stop," I say. "You two can talk about this some other time. This is supposed to be happy."

"Voight do we have a case today?" Adam asks.

"Nope, nothing today," He replies.

"Then I'm out of here," Adam says and walks out.
