Chapter 13

Jess' P.O.V.

Voight just asked me if I wanted a spot in Intelligence. I don't know what to say so we sat in silence.

"You don't have to make a decision right this second," Hank laughs.

"Are you sure?" I ask.

"Yes Ruzek. I understand that you need more time to think and make a decision. Just try to give me an answer tomorrow please," He smiles.

"Thank you Sarge," I stand up and give him a hug before leaving.

I open the door and walk straight to Jay's desk where he is sitting and doing paper work. He smiles when he see's me standing at his desk.

"Need something?" He smirks.

"Dinner tonight. I don't care where but I need to talk to you about something," I whisper.

"You got it. I'll text you later with details." He whispers back.

Next I walk over to Adam desk. Of course he ignores my presence.

"Adam," I say

No response.

"Adam! Look at me!" I yell.

He grabs my arm and brings me into the locker room.

"Why are you here?" He asks.

"It's nice to see you too," I roll my eyes. "We need to talk. Like really talk."

"Well I'm working so it won't be now," He says annoyed.

"Fine. I'm grabbing dinner with Jay tonight then I'm coming over," I say.

"Alright, I'll see you later then," He replies.

"Love you bro," I say as he walks out.

I can feel a tear go down my face. I walk out of the district and meet Cara at the diner near by. I walk in and notice she's already there so I sit down across from her.

"Hey," I smile. "What's your news?"

"I was going to wait until after we got our food but I guess I will tell you now," She smiles. "I'm transferring to Chicago permanently!"

"That's awesome!" I shout. "I'm so happy for you."

"I was going to tell Adam tonight," She says.

"Are you two getting serious?" I smirk.

"He finally asked me to be his girlfriend last night." She said happily.

"I'm happy for you two," I smiled. "Voight wants me to talk to Adam tonight because of me, he hasn't been able to go into the field."

"I know," she frowned. "He's been really upset."

"I have good news too," I say.

"Well? What is it?" She laughed.

"Hank asked me to come up to Intelligence," I smiled. "I'm not sure if I should take the job or not."

She told me her opinion on the subject and then we keep talking about anything and everything until our food comes. After we finish lunch Cara drives me back to our apartment. I go into my room and she goes into hers. I start sorting through pictures when I hear my phone receive a text from Jay.

We are going to a nice Italian restaurant, so wear something nice ;) I'll pick you up at 6.

I looked at the clock and it said 4. I decided I should probably start getting ready. I jumped in the shower then I did my hair and put on my makeup. I decided on a red flowy dress, incase Adam come home early and sees me. When I finished I looked at the clock and it was only 5:30. I went out into the living room just as Adam walked in.

"Can we talk?" I ask softly.

"I think we need to," He replies.

"I'm sorry for everything. I know you are just trying to look out for me all the time but I'm old enough to make my own decisions. I know you aren't happy about the baby but I wish you would be happy that I'm happy," I say.

"I'm sorry too. I need to stop treating you like a baby. You are old enough to take care of yourself. I just get nervous that Jay will go into a PTSD moment and hurt you. He almost did that to Upton last week. I am happy that I will have a niece or nephew," He smiles.

I give him a huge hug. "I have to talk to you about one more thing."

"What's up?" He questions.

"Hank asked me to be in Intelligence," I reply.
