Ryan walked in the door of their home and tossed himself down onto the sofa with a grunt. He had quickly kicked off his sneakers and was now pulling his sweat-soaked t-shirt over his head, groaning, and lying back into the cushions. "Baby, where are you?" he called into the house. "There's so much shit going on right now, it's insane."

Rain sauntered into the room, trying to accentuate her curves as she walked but realizing that maybe, perhaps, yoga pants and a sports bra wasn't the sexiest attire. All the same, she smiled brilliantly at the sight of her handsome hunk of a mate. "What's the gossip?"

Ryan sat up straight then, patting the space of cushion beside him. When Rain sat and leaned into his sweaty body, he sighed contentedly. "Well, it's complicated and there are about a million rumors right now. The least of which is that all is not going swimmingly between my cousin and his new mate."

"Shocking," Rain snorted. She leaned her head on Ryan's right shoulder and gazed up into his beautiful, warm honey eyes. "I predicted that a month ago!"

Ryan nodded in agreement, a smirk spreading across his bearded face. "Yes, but the problem isn't exactly what you predicted."

Rain snuggled closer, wrapping an arm around her mate's chest. "So, tell me. Stop with this cliffhanger bullshit."

"Fine, fine," he laughed. "According to TJ –"

"Right there is your problem," Rain interrupted with a roll of her eyes. "TJ is a fucking idiot!"

Ryan rolled his eyes right back at her. "He heard some very interesting gossip. Apparently, Isolde has stated unequivocally that she wishes to have a pup."

Rain nodded gently. "Yes, she said that on the very first day that I met her."

"Well," Ryan cleared his throat and chuckled. "Word is that Vin is shooting blanks, apparently. That is, when he can shoot. Supposedly this was suspected all along, they just never bothered to inform Isolde before the match was made and she came here."

Rain's mouth formed a large O and her eyes widened. "Wow, that's...Poor Isolde? Poor Vinny?"

"Don't say that just yet," Ryan rubbed his hands together excitedly. His grin spread from amused to entirely devious. "Here's the good shit: apparently, she approached our Alpha with this information the other day."

"What's he supposed to do about it?" Rain snorted.

Ryan's smirk widened to a dangerous width. "Think about that, babe."

"Wow," Rain nodded slowly, digesting this information. "Seriously? She asked Chris to sire her pup?"

Her mate chuckled. "Not only that, but she stated flat-out that if she has no hope of ever having a pup with her mate, then she feels that her mating is invalid, and she wishes to return to her pack."
