With Ophelia now sobbing non-stop, worried that perhaps something was wrong with their pup, the Alpha had called the doctor to return. Crimson was still ghostly pale as she sat in a chair across the room, staring out the window into the sunlight and shivering occasionally. When she was informed that the doctor would be arriving at any moment, she had quickly dressed herself in shorts and a see-through tank top without a bra. She was sulking, and she refused to meet the Alpha's eyes. The simple fact that she had covered anything up was so out of character that the Alpha found himself asking if she was alright, but he received only a cold shoulder in response.

Rick sighed as he once again finished checking the Luna. "Her cervix is thinning nicely but she's only three centimeters dilated."

The Alpha's expression fell. "This is very slow going."

"Yes," the doctor nodded. "But not cause for concern and not abnormal. She's young and this is her first pregnancy and pup. I see no reason to panic or to fear that anything is wrong. Your pup's heartbeat is strong, and both mother and baby are doing well. This is simply a case of wishing that things would go faster than they are."

Chris pursed his lips pensively and nodded. "If you say that everything is okay, then everything is okay."

"It's not okay," the Luna began sniffling and wiping her face on one of their pillows. "My naughty parts feel like they're being put into one of those wood shredding thingies."

Rick glanced at the Alpha, made a comedic face and tried not to laugh. "I'm sorry to say, Luna, that is entirely normal. As you know, my mate just delivered our third pup a few weeks back and she said some very similar things while in labor."

"I believe that her exact words were that her cooch was being drawn and quartered," the Beta quipped as he sauntered into the room, his hands folded behind his back. He glanced around at the group and smirked. "Well aren't we just a ball of laughs this afternoon. Good times with the Alpha and Luna over here."

Chris rolled his eyes at his brother. "Quit with the shit-eating grin, Ry. If you're here that means that something is wrong."

Ryan wiggled his eyebrows playfully. "Can't I come to show interest in my Luna's health and wellbeing?"

"That's very sweet," Crimson hiccupped softly from her chair by the window. She did her best to forget her qualms with the Alpha as she heatedly undressed the Beta with her eyes. She licked her lips and purred, "So thoughtful. You're such a wonderful Beta, sir. You truly do care about your pack."

Ophelia drowned her out with a loud cry. "I'm dying. Help me!"

The Beta's brown eyes widened as he eyed his brother with amusement. "Well then, I see that all is going well. So, I came to inform you that, in your absence, our idiot brother TJ has disappeared along with Maximus and that tiny she-wolf Crystal."

"Crystal is meant to be mated to a wolf in the Left Foot Pack," the Alpha informed his Beta. "All the arrangements have been made, she leaves in two days for her new pack."
