Rain gaped. "No more baby talk?"

"She is speaking normally again and she hasn't used the s-word since yesterday," Layla nodded with pride. "I wish I knew what the fuck the Alpha said to her because, goddess bless his fine ass, it seems to have worked!"

"That's great," Rain grinned as she placed a small paper plate in front of each little plastic chair at the round table. "So, what did he give her?"

"Oh," Layla laughed, unconsciously rubbing her pup bump as she reached for the container of juice. "He gave her a pretty little beaded bracelet with a wolf charm, and told her that it was a direct link to the goddess. So, if she feels sad or angry, or if she has something to say to the goddess, she can just touch her bracelet and talk directly with her."

Rain considered this for a moment and then smiled. "That was very sweet of him. He's a good egg."

Layla nodded. "And he has a luscious derriere that you can bounce a quarter off of."

The other she-wolf rolled her eyes at this, set down the last plate, and wandered back to the counter. Collecting two cups of juice, she sighed. "Can we gossip for a second?"

"Tell me all the news that's not fit to print," Layla mused as she continued to fill the pups' cups with the apple juice. "What's going on?"

"Vincenzo is back in training," the other she-wolf stated flatly. She turned to face her best friend and sighed. "Not that I care, but Ryan is working overtime to get him back to where he was before, well, you know." She frowned. "Ryan is exhausted and I'm exhausted, and he can't help much with Christopher if he's not home and/or he's in a coma of sleep."

"What about Twat-Jay and Chris?" the other woman inquired, raising an eyebrow curiously. "Don't they train the minions, as well?"

Rain shook her head slowly. "Training isn't really an Alpha responsibility, that falls to his Beta. Normally, TJ - nice nickname, by the way -" she giggled, "would help out, but he's apparently got his snout shoved up his new mate's ass. Ry said he must be getting laid left and right, because he's been walking around looking like the wolf who ate the squirrel for several weeks now."

Layla snorted. "Grossness."

"I'm glad that Vincenzo has bounced back and that he wants to contribute to our pack, I truly am, but I'm very concerned for my mate's well-being. He has dark circles beneath his eyes and he's losing weight due to the physical exertion." Rain frowned and a tear cascaded down her right cheek. "I need him right now."

"Oh, babe," her best friend comforted as she waddled over and wrapped the other she-wolf in a tight hug. "It will be okay. I promise you, it will be okay. Just give it another few days and I think it will all work itself out and Ryan will be fine. I mean, when has Ryan not been fine?"

"He's so perfect," Rain sniffled as she clutched tightly at the blonde. "He's just.....perfect."

Layla winced. "Well, I wouldn't go that far but I'm glad he makes you happy."
