By the time the Alpha was even willing to consider getting out of bed, it was already noon. Then there was the process of dragging Ophelia from their bed, forcing her to eat a proper meal, and cajoling her endlessly to get showered and dressed. Once she finally sat on their mattress in a cute skater-style yellow dress and some Chucks, there was a conversation, a ridiculous one at that, about how she had not gained a single pound in the week that she had been pregnant. Despite his promise that this was an impossibility, his little Luna insisted that she had gained ten pounds already and was sporting a tiny pup bump. To humor her, he looked - there was nothing.
Trying to wash away the stress of the past few days, from reading Felicity's devastating note to everything happening with Vinny and Isolde, Chris just wanted to forget for a while. The easiest way to do that was to fulfill another of the promises on his To Do list: to visit the daycare and spend some time with the pups. This too, he thought, would be excellent for his little Luna, as she had limited experience with children and was now carrying one inside her womb. What better way to show her that everything would be okay than to introduce her to the amazing little ones and let them warm her heart?
That was the plan, but Ophelia was currently wide-eyed and semi-horrified as the group of pups began to climb all over her. Chris laughed as he took his usual seat on the carpet and began to gesture toward the pups. "Everyone please back up! Please give her some breathing room," he called. They listened immediately and slid back to their usual spaces on the carpet. His eyes danced with delight at this, and he applauded his little group. "Thank you. Job well done!"
"Who dis?" Iowa demanded, little fists on her hips as she assessed their newest addition. She glanced Ophelia up and down and did not look amused.
The Alpha cleared his throat and glanced at his group of little besties. "First, I want to say that I am so sorry that I have not seen you in quite a few weeks, I missed all of you very much."
"We missus you too," Val nodded and smiled. The remainder of the group seemed to consider this and then nod in agreement.
The Alpha blushed. "But I was gone for a very important reason, and now I have someone very, very special that I would like you all to meet."
"Is dat oo mommy?" Iowa inquired, sticking a finger in her teeth.
At the front of the room, Layla and Rain tried not to snicker themselves to death. Trying to hide their faces with their hands or, in Layla's instance, behind a paper plate, the pair of friends were very close to cackling. Seated near her new mate, Ophelia looked very much like a deer just as the car collides with its body.
Chris smiled warmly as he wrapped a protective arm around his little she-wolf and tugged her into his side. "This is my mate, Ophelia. She is your new Luna. Can you say Luna Oh-feel-ya?"
"Hawo, Looney Off-ee-lee-a," India stuck out her hand and nearly punched the older she-wolf in the breasts. "Mice to meet choo."
Ophelia timidly shook the little pup's hand and smiled nervously. "Hello, uh –"
Her mate's long arm rose up to her shoulders as he beamed down at her. "That is our niece, India. She's TJ's pup, and that right there -" he pointed to Iowa, "is her twin sister, Iowa."
