Author's Note: Meet Crimson! Although I generally don't like to provide photos to go with my OCs, I wanted to spice things up a bit since, let's face it, we've all seen every single picture of the boys that exists. So, here is a rough estimation of how I envision Crimson.
It was disgustingly early, before 8AM, as Layla continued her routine of over-disinfecting every single surface in the daycare. Feeling oddly wide awake today, Rain had skipped in the door with Christopher, settled him into a crib in the nursery, and watched happily as he drifted right back to sleep. Prancing out into the main room, she clapped her hands quietly and beamed. "Okay, I want the news. What happened last night?"
Last night was supposed to be "the talk" - the moment when Layla finally confronted her mate about all the tension surrounding their unintended third pregnancy. For as boisterous and outgoing as her best friend was in her daily life, Rain knew that Layla struggled when it came to confronting serious issues. Avoidance was Layla's prescribed course, but when it came to a growing pup — there was no avoidance.
Seeing the glint in Rain's brown eyes, Layla deflated and gingerly tossed herself down into a nearby toddler's chair. "Rick is not happy with me."
Rain set herself onto the floor beside her friend, and grabbed the other she-wolf's hand in solidarity. "But he loves you."
"Yeah," she sighed sadly. "He's just upset that we flubbed up the birth control somehow, because we really did not intend to have a third. After Val, we both agreed that we had our wolf and our she-wolf, and that was good. No need to keep adding to the family. He's not an Alpha that is expected to sire endless progeny and my vag would really prefer to not be swinging at my ankles."
Not wanting to overstep her bounds but curious, Rain squeezed her bestie's hand. "So?"
"We agreed not to abort," Layla frowned melodramatically and then allowed a joyous smile to spread across her face. "We agreed that, even though this wasn't planned, we're going to embrace having a new addition to the family. Who knows, maybe she'll be crazier than the other two combined?"
"It's a girl?" Rain's expression lit. "Oh my god, that's amazing! Just think how much loonier the stories that the pups tell will be!"
"Right?" Layla giggled and rubbed her flat stomach. "The Alpha's going to write a fucking book, I swear."
"Maybe you should write a book?" Rain teased.
Layla shrugged. "That's more of a Doctor Rick thing, you know? Write a book about how looney tunes his pups are, and how it's all his wacky mate's fault."
"That's the pregnancy hormones talking," Rain warned her. "You know that Rick is absolutely crazy about your wacky ass, and that he's only taunting you out of love and admiration. Without you and the pups, he'd lose his sanity very quickly."
Layla struggled to get up from the tiny chair and giggled. "You're right. My bitch totally needs me! Now speaking of bitches, how is yours and what are you crazy kids expecting?"
