Ophelia groaned as she fought to find a comfortable position atop their mattress. Right now, she was too hot to lie beneath any of the covers or sheets, and her foam pillow felt like a brick. Her back was so sore that she wanted to stretch out on her stomach, but at eight months pregnant that was clearly an impossibility. Instead, she was flopping back and forth from her right side to her left, nothing comfortable as she bitched and moaned and fought the urge to punch something.

The Alpha was quietly observing her temper tantrum, knowing that if he laughed she would definitely hit him. When she finally seemed to settle into a position, on her right hip facing him, he rolled to face her and grinned. "Are you better now, my little she?"

"No," she spat in annoyance. "Everything fucking hurts." She squinted those big brown eyes and glared at him, making a series of noises to over-emphasize how unamused she truly was.

Timidly testing the waters, he inquired softly, "Are you mad at me?"

She glared at him some more and, eventually, her expression softened and she shook her chin slowly. "No, not at you. I'm just mad that I can't get comfortable and I'm always so hot lately. Is that a thing?"

"A pregnancy thing?" he raised his eyebrow curiously.

She nodded. "Yeah. Rain said that there's a lot of things that suck about pregnancy and they're all really common. That I shouldn't worry because most she-wolves go through the same types of things."

"I think it is a thing," he spoke hesitantly as he reached out and placed his hand atop her exposed belly. Spreading his fingers wide against her soft skin, he began to slowly rub his thumb across her linea negra. "How is little man doing in there?"

"He's good," Phee smiled sweetly and looked content for the first time tonight. "He's been very quiet today. I think he knows that his mommy needs some rest."

Chris nodded with a grin. "He's already in-tune with his mommy's wants?"

"He is," Phee beamed. "And he loves egg rolls, too! We learned that the other night and then I confirmed it today at lunch. I had pork egg rolls, orange slices, and a small jar of peanut butter."

The Alpha had been told to lay off his Luna and her poor eating habits so long as she actually was eating, so he fought himself not to say something about this. Biting his lip, he made an unamused face. "That sounds absolutely disgusting, baby."

"It was so good," Phee licked her lips wistfully. "Mmm, I could totally go some marshmallow fluff right now." Her eyes glittered as she looked at her mate expectantly.

Chris sat up and groaned. "What else?"

She pressed a finger into her bottom lip and then her expression glowed with joy. "Oh my goddess, with some green olives and ramen."
