TJ didn't even knock. He tossed the door wide open and once it had rebounded off the bookshelf behind it, he slammed it shut loudly and tossed himself down into one of the chairs. He stared across the large desk at his brother the Alpha, then crossed his arms slowly over his chest. His face was solemn. "Do you ever fucking listen to me, hmm? I told you that the shit was going down with Red Dawn, but did you listen to me?"

Exhausted and weighted by a looming depression, the Alpha's brown eyes widened with shock at the sight across his desk. "Where the fuck have you been, Thomas? We've been trying to find you for nearly a week now. There are some very important issues that I must—"

The Gamma held a hand out to quiet his brother. "Shush. I have some major news and your little play-toy she-bitch won't like this very much," he sneered with an itch of cruel delight tainting his words. "There is big shit going on right near our borders. Epic shit. Shit that you cannot possibly fathom, Christopher. While you've been fucking off and impregnating all the bitches, I've been hard at work."

Chris' eyes widened in shock at this phrasing and the mixture of bitter cruelty and sorrowful regret that shaded his brother's eyes. Considering all that he had been through over the past week, the Alpha's face paled at the potential for further hardship. But this was TJ and he knew that nothing was ever clear-cut with his brother, so annoyed, he bounced back to arguing. "My play-toy? Are you referring to your Luna?"

"Of course not," the Gamma snorted derisively. "I'm talking about that bitch Rain, your one true love—Ryan's baby momma. The cunt that launched a thousand ships or whatever the fuck you want to call her."

The Alpha drew in a deep breath and let it out slowly, trying to steel himself from reacting with rage. "Thomas, she is our brother's mate and not my plaything, as you say. Why are you here? Because, honestly, my fuse is very short today and I am fucking exhausted. But you have a lot of important questions to answer, brother. I'm fully certain you know of what I speak, and I warn you that there will be repercussions for your—"

Utterly ignoring the seriousness of his Alpha's stern tone, TJ wasted no time in delivering his devastating news. "Rogues have infiltrated Red Dawn and seized control of the pack." He paused for a moment to allow this statement to sink in before carrying onward. "They have murdered Alpha Sommers and his Luna, along with their young she-wolf. I'm told that they also killed the Beta and Gamma, along with every other male in the pack—including the pups."

Chris' face paled to a sheet of white and he sat up straighter behind his desk. All he could manage to respond was a shaky "What?"

"My intel says that they have kept all the she-wolves over twelve alive, provided they will acquiesce to the new leadership. Several would not cooperate and were dispatched with, if you will." To his credit, the Gamma looked equally stricken by the information that he was relaying, tears threatening to spill from his brown eyes. "I have several spies situated around the neighboring packs and they're doing their best, but the information is spotty and this is all I have, thus far."

He did not wait for a response. "All we know is that a group of rogues have amassed themselves into a roving pack, complete with an Alpha, and they have seized Red Dawn and dispatched half the pack. I don't yet know why Red Dawn, in particular, or answers to many of the other specific questions that immediately come to mind." He paused and then questioned, "Ophelia is Red Dawn, no?"

Still in a state of shock, Chris nodded slowly, mouth agape. "Yes, she is."

"Were her parents still with the pack?" his brother inquired, lowering his voice and actually sounding sympathetic.
