Chapter 18

When the Dao Ming siblings had arrived at school, word had gotten around that they were leaving for London. Somehow, Xia's reason for going got lost in translation and now everyone was assuming that she and Mei Zuo had broken up and she was leaving for London to heal a broken heart. They were currently with Xi Men and Mei Zuo in the Bridge room, hiding from the rumors.

"London? Both of you are going to London?" Xi Men cried out in shock.

"I'm just going there for a photoshoot." Xia defended as she sat in Mei Zuo's lap.

"It's not a big deal. My mom's business is there. It's totally normal for me to go there." Ah Si reasoned.

"Liar. You hate it in London. Are you trying to avoid Lei and Shan Cai?" Mei Zuo told him.

"Why would I avoid them?" Ah Si asked.

"Ah Si." Lei had arrived and called out to his friend. Ah Si looked at him.

"Just so you know, I'm not going to London because of you. It's my plan. I'm going to come back a better man." Ah Si declared and Xia smiled at his ego and determination. Ah Si stood up to leave.

"Yeah right. You won't last two months." Xi Men teased him. They heard footsteps coming down the stairs and Xia saw Shan Cai reach the bottom just as her brother was about to start coming up. They all stood up to watch the scene unfold.

"You're going to London?" She asked him.

"Yes. Got a problem with that?" Ah Si retorted.

"Shan Cai, he's not sure yet. Talk some sense into him." Xi Men requested.

"I've made up my mind.  No one can persuade me. Xia and I ae leaving tomorrow." Ah Si informed her.

"Tomorrow? Why didn't you tell me?" Shan Cai asked him, shocked that he was leaving so soon.

"Why should I tell you? Without me in the way, you can finally date him. Isn't that right, Lei?" Ah Si said as he looked at Lei.

"You should get right to it. When I get to London, I'll find a blond girl and we'll go on dates by the River Thames every day. It will be so romantic." Ah Si tried to make her jealous and Xia could see I working.

"Fine. Go then. I'm happy you're leaving. I'll live happier without you. Goodbye forever!" Shan Cai shouted at his face before climbing back up the stairs in a hurry. Ah Si didn't go after her.

"Ahia, you shouldn't have done that" Xia told him as he stared blankly into space, standing at the foot of the staircase.

Xia walked down the stairs to their basement where they usually hung out if the guys were over. She found out her brother had tried to go see Shan Cai and she got angry at him for bothering her at work. She knew he was now in a bad mood. Once she reached the bottom step, she saw her brother sitting in his chair, listening to classical music, she saw Xi Men making something to drink, and she saw Mei Zuo teaching Qinghe some memory tricks. She approached her boyfriend and hugged him from behind, bending down and putting her head on top of his as she looked down at the clipboard he was holding.

"A, C, W, X, D, D, B, D..." Qinghe recited and Mei Zuo cut him off.

"You got three out of ten." Mei Zuo told Qinghe frankly as he passed the clipboard over. He then took hold of Xia's hands that were crossed in front of him. Xia kissed the top of his head.
