Chapter 42

It was night time and Xia just finished getting Rui ready for bed. She placed him down on the side of the bed Mei Zuo usually claimed and started getting ready for bed herself. She would be sleeping in the guest room she usually slept in while the boys slept in Lei's room. She had finished changing into sleeping clothes and sat on her side of the bed, watching Rui who looked like he was about to fall asleep. Someone entered the room and Xia turned to see Mei Zuo. She stood up and walked towards him and he welcomed her with open arms.

"Hey. I just wanted to make sure you and Rui will be fine here." He said as he placed a kiss on her forehead. Xia turned so they were back to front, her arms holding his that were around her waist, and they both observed Rui on the bed.

"Zuo, we're literally in the room next to you guys. We'll be fine." She said as she leaned into him and turned her head so she could see his face. Mei Zuo leaned down and kissed her on the lips to which Xia responded eagerly to.

"I don't wanna sleep beside Xi Men, I wanna sleep beside you." He whined when they both pulled away from the kiss. Xia laughed.

"How are you gonna explain that to the guys, then?" Xia asked him.

"You could always say that you want me to be here with you in case Rui wakes up in the middle of the night." He proposed as he wiggled his eyebrows at her. Xia shook her head at his antics.

"Stop using your son as a scapegoat for your antics." Xia lightly scolded.

"But then that means I don't get to hold you when we sleep." Mei Zuo pointed out.

"You'll survive the night, big baby." Xia teased.

"Your baby, though." Mei Zuo told her as he placed a kiss on her shoulder, Xia pushed his head away.

"Stop trying to convince me to let you sleep here." She said with a laugh. Suddenly, the door opened and the other three boys stood there.

"Are you lovebirds done or what?" Xi Men asked them with a teasing smile.

"Hey, Mei Zuo, let go of my sister and let's get going." Ah Si said as he gestured his head to the general direction of Lei's room. Mei Zuo sighed as she turned so they were face to face again. She weaved her arms around his neck as he kissed her forehead.

"Good night, my princess." He said as he pulled away. He then walked towards the bed where Rui had already fallen asleep. He bent down and pressed a kiss on his son's forehead as well.

"Good night, lil' man." He whispered and Xia smiled at the sight. She looked towards the guys who were still by the door.

"Good night, boys." She said as she opened her arms and they walked in to each give her a hug goodnight. They then walked towards Rui and each gave him a kiss on the forehead as well.

"Good night, Princess. Good night, bug." They all said before taking Mei Zuo by the arms and dragging him out the room, closing the door behind them.

Luckily, Rui woke up only once in the span of the night. Xia fed him and he fell right back asleep afterwards without much fuss. The next morning, Xia woke up just in time to hear Rui cooing for more milk again. She fed him before changing his clothes to get him ready for the day. She placed him on the bed as she got herself ready before picking him up and making her way to the kitchen. She placed him on the car seat that Mei Zuo set up yesterday and proceeded to start making breakfast. She was in the middle of making pancakes when someone cleared their throat from behind her. She turned and saw Lei.
