Chapter 40

"Are you sure you're going to be fine by yourself, Meimei? I know jie came by to visit last week but I really don't feel comfortable leaving you here alone." Dao Ming Si asked his little sister who was laid out in bed. For the last two weeks, she had hidden out at Lei's house after calling him and explaining the situation and asking him if it would be okay for her to stay at his place. He had given her full permission to use anything she might need during her stay and even offered her his bedroom which Xia had to decline as she was fine with using the room she usually stayed in.

"Ahia, I'll be fine. You go do whatever you need to do. Say hi to Shan Cai for me." She reassured. Her back had been hurting since last night but she wasn't about to tell him that as he had a major report to present today and knowing him, he would skip it to watch over her if he found out she was in pain. He looked at her one last time before he sighed and nodded, turning around and starting to walk out the door.

"Call me if there's anything you need, okay? I'll come back as soon as I finish my report." Her brother said as he closed the door behind him.

Xia sighed as she decided to start her day with some breakfast. She was walked to the kitchen and prepared the ingredients for strawberry pancakes. She was reaching up on the counter above her for the mixer when she felt like she peed herself and she heard a splashing sound. She looked down and saw that her water had broken. She slowly walked towards a dining chair and that was when the contractions started. Due to her medical training, she knew that she should just breathe through the contraction and the next one would come within the next few minutes. However, she was surprised when it came immediately after the first one. She started doing the breathing exercises she was taught by her doctor as she waddled towards her phone. She dialled her brothers number but his phone seemed to be off. She dialled Xi Men's number next.

"Princess? Where are you? Mei Zuo has been looking everywhere for you for the past two weeks." Xi Men said as soon as he picked up the call.

"Xixi, I need your help. I'm all alone at Leilei's house and my water broke. I didn't expect the contractions to be this close to each other but they're coming closer and stronger." Xia admitted as she gripped the couch she was sitting on and breathed through another contraction.

"What? Okay, okay. I'll be there in five minutes." He frantically said and ended the call.

Xia placed the phone down as she ran a hand through her bump.

"Hi, baby. You can't wait to see the world, huh?" She weakly joked as she suffered through another contraction. It wasn't even five minutes later when the front door burst open and Xi Men came running in.

"Princess! Are you okay? What hurts? What should I do?" Xi Men fired question after question in a rush. Xia wanted to laugh at how panicked he looked but she was in too much pain to do so.

"Please take me to the hospital, Xixi." She told him with puppy dog eyes and he nodded before guiding her to stand up and assisting her to his car. Xi Men looked at her while driving to the hospital and saw that she was in intense pain but was trying not to show it. Once they got to the hospital, Xi Men parked the car at the front of the building and hurriedly exited the car and ran to the other side to assist Xia.

Once she stepped out, some personnel saw that she was having difficulty walking through the pain so they ran out with a wheel chair and helped her sit in it. Once settled, she was immediately ushered into the labor room. Xi Men wanted to come in with her and make sure she was okay but they wouldn't let him in because he was not the father nor was he related to her. He sighed as he took out his phone and dialled Mei Zuo's number.
