When Xia got to the house in London, she was informed by the maids that her mother was waiting for her in the living room. Xia took a deep breath and steeled herself before walking to the living room and coming face to face with her mom.

"Hello, mother." She greeted as soon as she arrived. Her mother set down the cup of tea she was drinking to address her youngest daughter.

"Xia, have a seat." She said as she gestured to the seat across her. Xia slowly took her seat, sitting straight so that her mother wouldn't have anything to criticize her about.

"I've gone over your work since I was gone and I would just like to commend you on the good job that you've done." Her mother complimented and Xia was surprised because she rarely does that.

"Thank you, mother. Would that be all?" She asked.

"I also wanted to talk to you about Wang Industries." Her mother continued and Xia bit her tongue but decided not to say anything.

"I met with Wang Jin Shun while you were gone, mother. Everything is going exactly as it should." Xia informed her.

"So, you already know that you'll have to marry him to solidify the relationship between Dao Ming Group and Wang Industries." Her mother finally dropped the bomb.

"I personally don't believe that a wedding is necessary but yes, I am well informed of that fact." Xia coldly said.

When she took up the job at Dao Ming Group, Xia had seen first-hand how much trouble her mother was in and how the company was almost in shambles. With her knowledge, she was able to secure some important partnerships and mergers to keep the company safe for the meantime until her brother was ready to take over. She hadn't wanted to change a lot of thing as she wasn't meant to be its heir in the first place. So, Xia did what she could to keep the company from going bankrupt. Wang Industries was one of the top partnerships they really needed to close. Talks and negotiations were going well but Dao Ming Feng wanted to speed up the process and thus resulted to her offering her youngest daughter to the sole heir of Wang Industries, Wang Jin Shun.

"The negotiations weren't going as fast as I had hoped. We were losing too much money and resources. That was the only way I could think of to make them agree right away." Dao Ming Feng wanted Xia to understand. Among her three children, Xia was the one who gave her the least amount of trouble. She was intelligent, perceptive, and tried her best to please everyone around her. She was like a bubble of warmth during cold days. That's the exact reason why Dao Ming Feng didn't want her daughter to hate her.

"I understand, mother. If you'll excuse me, I'm quite tired. I'll be heading to bed to rest." Xia informed her mother as she stood up to leave the room.

"Your engagement will hit the general public in two days' time. Make sure you are ready and wearing the ring." Her mother reminded her as she continued to walk away without looking back.

Dao Ming Si was in a video call with his younger sister. He had placed the tablet on the table so everyone could see her and vice versa.

"So, how's everything going with mom there?" He asked her.

"It's so tense and awkward, I never stay in the same room as her for too long because it makes me feel like I can't breathe." Xia complained to her older brother.
