Chapter 31

Xia was sitting in the audience of one of her favorite piano players. She's been so stressed lately at having to avoid Mei Zuo, she also had to isolate herself from Lei and Xi Men. Her mother threatened to destroy Mei Zuo and his family should she continue to see him. She's been spending her time with Jin Shun mostly, just to appease her mother. He was supposed to be attending this show with her but he had mysteriously cancelled the last minute. She felt someone take a seat beside her and she looked to see Mei Zuo.

"Zuo?" She asked in a surprised tone.

"Surprised?" He asked her with a mysterious smile and she nodded. He smiled at her before proceeding to place an arm around her chair, Xia leaning into him. She sighed deeply, enhaling his scent as she placed her head on his shoulder.

"I missed you." She whispered but he still heard her.

"I missed you more, Princess." He said as he kissed the side of her head. Together, the both of them watched the rest of the show. Xia closed her eyes to feel the music and the moment as Mei Zuo kept his eyes on her. She was finally in his arms.

After the show, the two walked closely together in the hallways. Mei Zuo had an arm around her shoulders and she had an arm around his waist.

"I should be asking you. How did you end up in the seat right beside mine? That was Jin Shun's seat. Did you, plan this with him?" Xia asked him with a bright smile and Mei Zuo smiled back.

"My family arranged his recital. I knew you loved him so I gave Jin Shun a ticket for you to be able to come. He agreed to help because from what he's told me, you seem to be unhappy nowadays." Mei Zuo told her.

"Your family arranged this? So, we can meet him tonight?' Xia excitedly asked him and he nodded.

"Let's go?" He asked her and she smiled brightly before nodding excitedly.

After meeting Li Quan again, Xia and Mei Zuo walked towards the exit of the theater. Xia was happy that she got to meet the pianist again who remembered her as well. She was stopped from walking when she felt herself being pulled to an empty room by Mei Zuo. As soon as the door closed, he kissed her and she immediately kissed him back.

"I missed doing this." She told him with a giggle as they continued kissing. Mei Zuo pulled away after a while and kissed her on the forehead instead. He had his arms around her waist and hers were around his neck.

"You don't have to sacrifice not seeing me to protect me, you know. I'm ready for whatever your mom throws at me. I'll always be ready to fight for you." He told her seriously and she smiled sadly at him.

"I'm scared, Zuo. She threatened your family and I just don't want them to be affected by something that they have no idea about. I don't know what tricks mom has up her sleeves as well." Xia admitted to him.

"You don't have to be scared. I'll protect you. Whatever happens, I'll never leave your side." He reassured her. She looked up at him with wide eyes and told him the one thing that has been bothering her more than anything.
