Chapter 25: The Reason Behind

After the battle between Fairy Tail and Soluna, they retreated without harming anyone in Magnolia except you. As usual, Mavis is still bothered about the chosen one. She failed on gaining you so she made a certain person to do her a favour.

"Gray, can you do me a favour?" Mavis said as she looked at Gray with a smile on her face.

"What is it?" Gray was a bit confused why Mavis came to him asking.

"If it's not much, I heard (y/n) has a day off tomorrow, since that thing happened and I'm still bothered by it. Can you spend your day with her, if it's not a bother" Mavis was playing with her fingers while looking at it.

"Huh?" Gray was annoyed when he heard those demands. He's not a babysitter that will watched over you every time. Even if he's annoyed, he can't just say he doesn't want to do it if it's from Mavis.

"I just wanted to have someone with her after all that just happened. You know like a body guard?" Gray is not pleased to what's happening and sighed.

"Okay if that's what you want but....." Erza cut Gray's words and abruptly entered the conversation.

"Why do you concern so much about her Master Mavis? Is it because about your hunch though everything you said is still impossible" Erza said

"I still believe in it. I thought giving her an offer in entering Fairy Tail can protect her from them but she rejected it without doubting her own decisions. As I saw her, I think I understood everything, she still have long way to go"

"She can't be understood" The words slipped out from Gray's mouth. Mavis looked at him confused.

"Though I only knew a little thing" Gray said "She's weak and fragile. Learning she wanted to be strong while carrying the words she won't let anyone suffer from her magic. It's a dumb reason but she changed, I know because she fought way back even if it drained her" Gray said while remembering the fight between Heros and him. (This was in chapter 19)

"You really liked (y/n) huh" Lucy teased Gray while poking him by her elbow.

"I don't like her instead I hate her but not in a bad way." Gray reasoned out.

Lucy giggled and looked at Mavis "Gray will do it! Definitely!" She said

Gray sighed again, he doesn't really want to do it but everyone has this damn expectation for him to accept everything they demand when it comes to you.

"Thank you so much Gray, you're really a big help" Mavis is smiling brightly knowing Gray won't reject her favour.

"I'm not always free you know" Gray said sarcastically.

"Don't worry, the closest person to (y/n) is you Gray. You don't need to worry that much" Natsu patted his shoulders while giving him a teasing smile.

"Back off" Gray said and pushed his hand away from his shoulders.

"I'll better get reward from this" After saying those words, he left and went to your shop.

While walking, Gray is thinking about the rejection you made about the offer. Anyone would be jumping with joy if they had been offered to enter the Fairy Tail guild and it's from Mavis too. He remembered the day when Mavis wanted to talk to you alone. It's just an accident for Gray to eavesdrop. He was just about to enter Fairy Tail when he saw Mavis and you talking to each other. Thinking maybe it's not a serious conversation, Gray walked towards you and Mavis and about to call you when he heard you saying....

"I'm sorry Mavis but I think I'm not really into joining guilds" you said rejecting Mavis' proposal.

That shocked Gray and instead on walking away to stop eavesdropping, he continued listening. When the conversation is done, Gray hurriedly went inside the guild.

You wanted to be strong but not with them. You wanted to be strong all alone. That's what he understood well about your reasoning. He can't change it but somehow he's relief knowing about your decision.

When he's finally in front of your shop, he went inside like a normal customer.

"Welcome to..... Oh it's just you Gray" You said and ran towards him.

"It's rare for you to come here without any occasion" you smiled to him gleamingly.

"Stop that smiling of yours, it's annoying" he said with disgust.

"If you are here just to insult me then go home" You pouted when you said those words and immediately changed to smile, again "I'm just joking"

"You never failed to annoy me" He said.

"So what is it you really came for?" you said and started to arranged some clothes that some customers didn't put back the way it was.

"Let's go have a date" Gray said with a straight tone

"What?!" the clothes you carried on your hands fell.

"Is anything wrong?!" Katherine appeared beside you.

"I'm just joking. I mean let's hang out tomorrow, I heard it's your day off" Gray said and helped you to picked up the clothes from the floor.

"I thought something was wrong" Katherine said and went towards Gray.

"If you want to go out with (y/n), just don't let her get into any trouble" She said and went inside your room again.

You are still flustered to what Gray said. Even if he corrected it, blood rush to your face and heats up means you looked like just a tomato.

"Don't take it too seriously" And Gray gave you the clothes he picked up.

"I know" you said while embarrassed.

"So... you're in?" He looked at you with a serious look.

You averted your gaze and nodded. You're blushing not even knowing why.

"Then it settles" He said and about to walked towards the door when you stopped him.

"Is that all?" You asked him before leaving and he nodded as a response.

He waved a goodbye and you bowed down as a respect or another term of saying take good care.

"What was that just now?!" you can't believe what just happened. You're heart flutters not knowing why would it ever do that. The only thing that came out from your messed up mind at that time is, He is obligated to do this, knowing that Gray was always beside you because he needed to. Again he was doing the things that was demanded. If only it was on his own accord then maybe.......

You shook your head when those thoughts crossed your mind. That would not happen because you know how much Gray hated you.

I'm sorry if I didn't update for how many months and it's almost a year since then. It will be 4 months after it became a year.

The thought struck me and gave me the inspiration to write again. I've been struggling all along and I'm really sorry. I know I'm not the only one who is struggling but it hurts knowing that some people in my side doesn't really appreciate your well being.

But oh well, we'll stop to this stupid things and I'll start to write again because I wanted to end this story. I love writing and so my own stories, I can't let go of this that's why I keep coming back. Knowing some people read this, it haunts me every time and my conscience always tells me, you need to write for them and yup it's my obligation because I started all of it.

I hope you liked it..... I'm going to write the next chapter (if I still can cause I need to do my thesis) so just wait for it (even if you waited for almost a year and I'm sorry for it)
