Chapter 45: Confessing?

"What will you do if someone close to you confessed?" your tongue slipped and readied yourself of what he might say back to you.

"I don't know" he shrugged his shoulders and didn't come up for an answer.

"Why you ask? He asked you and you also can't answer him straight and made an excuse.

"I thought it would be nice to know your opinion about love especially the looks of you, you're definitely popular" and you laughed an awkward one.

He was confused but didn't ask you further questions instead you sit down in the near bench for a moment because he was tired from his job.

"So how is it?" you started the conversation.

"Is it about the job we had?" he asked you.

"Yeah" you answered.

"It didn't go as plan and Natsu ruined it again" he said sighing as he tried to remember how reckless Natsu is.

"You two really are good friends" you smiled at him.

His eyebrows crossed and looked at you with irritation.

"Well I think you two get along with each other" you said scratching the back of your head.

"No I'm not" he became defensive and you laughed at his reaction.

After that, it became silent and you can't come up with a good topic for a new conversation.

Gray break the silence and come up to a topic that made you tense up.

"About earlier"

You gulped, looked at him and tried to force a smile.

"I need to correct you, I'm not popular" he said "And also..." you gulped again not knowing what he might said next "Why are you curious about my love life?" he said and he was looking at you intensely.

"Uhh...ahh.... Uhmm" you are thinking of a good excuse.

"Why? Is it bad to ask about your friend's love life?" you answered a question to his question.

"When did we become friends?" he said and that broke your heart.

"I was just joking" he said getting back what he said.

You heard him sigh and looked at the kids eating the cotton candy they bought with a smile on their faces.

"Is this about Juvia?" you are surprised to what he came up suddenly.

The real reason you asked this about is for you to reassure if you had a chance or is he has interests in love but you didn't expect that Juvia is the one in his mind right now because of you asking him.

You felt your heart squeezed and your throat is starting to get dry.

"If you're still thinking about what happened before Soluna kidnapped you then you don't need to worry anymore" he said.

It's not like it bothers you anymore and about the fight about Juvia and you, you quietly understand what she was trying to do.

She fought because of love and intended to do it with force because only she could think is for the person she loved to be someone who can also protect. You know for yourself that you don't have the perks to protect someone but right now, you already knew what you are capable of. Your magic is growing and you felt inside the lightness. Still the way she handle things is not the right option, you forgave her but that's the only thing you could do about it.

"I talked about it with her and rejected her" he said while still watching the kids.

You are surprised to what you heard and only you could say is "What?"

"Am I going to repeat it again?" he said getting mad.

"No, I mean why?" you're trying to cool his head.

"It's because I can't like her back. The way she loved me, I can't give her everything she needed. She also told me it's okay as long as I can give her attention but love is nothing like that right? And I don't want her feelings to become burden to others like what she did to you. I finished it already because I don't want anything bad would come out from it again" he explained and all you can do is to stay silent and listen.

"You thought it that much" that's the only words you said.

He stood up and stretched his body.

"Let's stop this serious talk and go home" he said and left you behind.

"You're pretty serious about these things, I don't know if I had place in your heart"

About he said earlier, you already knew the gap of you and Gray had. He thinks of you as a friend but you think of him as someone special. If you ever cross your line, it's either game over or a start of a new game.

He's near but unreachable. Is this what it means to be with someone you love but only you could do is watch his back and continued to move forward? Love is so complicated and you can't understand what's happening anymore.

"I'm home" you said ignoring Sera who is ranting about why you came home late.

You went to your room and slammed your body to your bed.

"Today is pretty exhausting" you said while you face your bed.

"What happened?" Sera asked as he finally catch up to you.

"Sera I want to give up" you said while sitting up straight.

"About what?" he was confused to what you are trying to convey to him.

"Of loving Gray" you said and readied yourself to hear his lectures again.

"And why?" he asked.

You looked at him trying to make a face that tells 'Why aren't you angry'

He sighed and looked at you with a serious expression.

"I don't have the authority to decide for your own feelings but if that's you want then go but don't go telling me in the end that you have regrets" he said and went outside your room.

"I don't know what to do anymore" you said trying to figure out how to fix your own feelings.

Another sunny day again and you continued of thinking about new ideas about clothes.

In the middle of designing, you heard someone coming inside your store.

You went downstairs and saw Juvia with a furious look.

"Wait did I do something wrong again?" she didn't answer you instead she slapped you and while her tears are falling.

"You love Gray right?"

You don't know the reason why Juvia is in your shop suddenly slapping you without a reason but you knew at that time, she's here because she wanted to tell you something.

Honestly, I was really frustrated yesterday because our internet is not working properly and I can't update at all even thought I'm already done writing this.

While also writing this chapter, it also breaks my heart because I remember the loss of my first love and it seems struck me when I read it again. I have also regrets but happy that I end up losing him. Let's move on and I hope you like this chapter.
