As soon as I stepped closer, I noticed that it was Phil. He had a blanket in his hand and had his same goofy smile on his face. He reached up to me and took me into his embrace.
''How did you know I would come here?'' I asked into mumbled words as I spoke with my face facing his chest.
''I know everything.'' He said, his voice sarcastic.
I backed out of the hug and sat on the rock. Phil sat on it beside me and wrapped us both in the blanket.
''The sky is so beautiful,'' I said, admiring it again.
''Not as beautiful as you, Princess,'' Phil said as he poked my nose.
''Oh not today, you're not allowed to call me Princess, if anything that's what I'm not right now, a princess.''
''Yeah, Chris called me.''
''Admit it Phil, I'm a failure.''
''No, you're not. They are jerks for not accepting your book. Don't tell me you're going to give up now, after all this hard work? Do you think that's what your mom or Julia would have wanted?''
I looked up at him and was lost of words. He continued to speak and said, ''No, it's not what they would have wanted. They would want you to get back up on your feet, and look for other companies and better deals. They would want you to fight, and never give up. Don't lose hope, Sarah, not after everything you've been through. You're a strong, independent woman, and you can do anything if you put your mind to it, and I know you can do this, because you're smart and funny and you're a great person, so beautiful, not only from the outside, but from the inside as well. So yes I am allowed to call you princess, because to me you are one. You fight for what you believe in and no matter how many obstacles people throw at you, you always manage to go through them without a flinch and you always get what you want,'' he paused for a second and gave me an encouraging smile, ''So please, don't give up.'' He finished.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Phil never spoke to me like that before. His speech gave me so much hope and he's right, I shouldn't give up now, not after all the hard work and the sacrifices I made. He's right, I will not give up. I turn my face to look at him and kissed him on the cheek and smiled, ''You're the best you know that?''
He chuckled. ''I try to be, so what do you say?''
''I will not give up.'' I answered with a determined smile.
''That's the spirit,'' he said in a joyful noise as he put his arm around me.
Phil's point of view.
After two hours or so, alone with Sarah, I took her to Damon. It was a surprise that he didn't even give me a call, to ask me where she would be. Does this mean he knew or he just simply doesn't care?
She looked so peaceful as her chest slowly rose and fell. It's a pity that I had to wake her up, to let her know she was home. Ha, funny, home. No to me, that place wasn't home, if anything it was hell. Her home is in Chicago with me, that's a place where you can call home, a place to run to, for shelter, not here with this bastard she calls a boyfriend, what kind of man is he?
Then again I'm not one to talk.
I unbuckled the belt from the seat, opened my car door and walked over to her car door; I opened it quietly and lifted her as I carried her over the threshold, careful not to wake her. I knocked on Damon's door slowly and waited for him to open the door.
