Chapter Thirteen

     It took about another week to get out of the hospital, because I had to get surgery for internal bleeding. I was just glad to back home to the Curtis house.

     I knocked on the door and poked my head inside. No one seemed to be home. I shrugged and went inside warily. I walked into the kitchen and noticed an unopened letter on the table. I got excited, it was probably for me! I walked over a picked up the letter. I opened it slowly and read the paper inside.

     'Dear Sandy,' It started.

     "Who is Sandy?" I asked myself.

     'I hope you get this letter and read it. I just want to say that I love you and I want to see you again. I miss you so, and I want you to be happy. I hope you come back and we could possibly get married. I would love the baby as if he/she was my own. I really do love you, with all my heart...

     My heart had shattered. I dropped the letter on the floor and raced out of the kitchen. I rushed out the door and down the steps. I bumped into someone and I looked up... Soda... I turned away and sprinted down the sidewalk. A hot stream of tears ran down my cheeks as the wind hit my face.

     "Where are you going?!" A voice called. I knew it was Soda...

     "S-Somewhere far away! Away f-from you!!!" I yelped back. Before he could reply, I skidded a sharp turn and tripped. I wiped the tears off of my face and got up. I continued to run like there was no tomorrow.

     He doesn't love you. He lied to you... He hates you. You were just a replacement. You meant nothing to him!

     The thoughts rushed through me. Before I knew it I was bawling my eyes out.

     You're a worthless piece of crap! No one cares about you! You're the stupidest human alive!

     "Stop, STOP!!!" I yelped covering my ears. I skidded to a stop and dropped to my knees. I hit my head against the pavement and punched to sidewalk repetitively.  "Stop... Stop... Stop..." I groaned each time I hit my fist on the ground. A felt an arm wrap around me. I looked up, Soda... I pushed him away with tears in my eyes. My vision was blurry. He looked at me sorrowfully and opened his mouth to say something. "You wanna know what's wrong?! You! Sandy this, Sandy that! Whoever she is run back to her and stay away from me!!! 'Cause I am really the only one in this relationship has said these three words: 'I love you'!" I yelped angrily. My heart began to drown in darkness as I said those words. I stood up and slightly tripped. I caught myself before running off again. I rushed into my mom's house and locked the door. I slid to the floor with my back against the wall. I looked over and spotted the teddy bear Sodapop gave me when I was in the hospital. I scowled and snatched it, chucking it across the room.

     "Summer!" A voice screamed. I was about to get the beating of my life...
